The cops had CCTV from the pub, I think the house search must surely have been because Owen Jones was a vociferous high profile pride Queen?

Going on memory, which  at my age isn't reliable?. I think the bloke who delivered the kicking had form as a far right/ football/ crazy man. Maybe the cops had intelligence on him and  were looking for an excuse to seize his computers, and by attacking Jones, this gave them a reason. I think, they did find a lot of far right stuff in his flat. Again I think that's why he got a long sentence.

I agree wholeheartedly about Campbell. He has masses of blood on his hands and yet wanders from television studio to radio station bleating about his depression and defending his lies before the gulf war.

Jones is, as tats says, a man who makes his living out of preaching to the working class, but I don't mind him. Sometimes he talks sense imo. Sometimes he doesn't imo.

Brillo pad Neil talks sense a lot of the time. But imo he is far right. He worked for Fox news,  the madmans' fake news channel in America, and is hand in glove with Murdoch. He's good entertainment when he tears politicians from the right and the left apart. Probably the best.

Now, there’s a phrase……

What is “Far right” mate ?…….not looking for an argument, I’m genuinely interested to see what you think “Far right” is ??

Far right to me means a belief in financial elitism .......low taxes for the rich and big business. A belief that working people can be exploited and if they complain they are troublemakers and others should be brought in to replace them. The  far right tend to like strong dictators or people like Trump. They tend to be religious nuts,  but in my view they never practice what religion teaches them. They tend to like low environmental regulations and don't have a problem with pollution from industry. They don't accept global warming. They don't believe in public services and like to privatise. Even to the extent of privatising water and rail. In the UK the right would love to privatise health. They tend not to believe in social housing  but leave everything to the markets. That's about all I can think of at the I use mate.

I think it's one one of those pick and mix terms. It means different things to different people.

Forgot the big one: race. The far right believe in racial superiority of the white race .

Yes, the last king of Scotland Idi Amin was a firm believer of superiority of the white races ?

Most of what you describe there used to be called Christian Conservative I believe…….since when did having Christian Conservative values become “Far Right” I wonder ?

Is it that we have been so hijacked by socialist ideology (with its well documented historical suppression of all other thought and word) that we now actually believe that Christian Conservative values warrant the scary title of “Far Right” ?

Some of what you list is just plain old fashioned capitalism…..for all its good and evil, it’s not scary “Far Right” is it.

Not an accusation at you but I personally hate to see people who’s opinion I normally respect use these modern scare words……they are the sledgehammer against the glass of free thought and logical assessment and discussion.

These words like “Far Right” and “Racist” and “Hate Speech” (just my humble opinion) are meaningless drivel for the hard of thinking, it’s things morons who can’t think or people who want to force their world view on society say and I know you ain’t that.

Please do better old chap

F minus I’m afraid ! ? ?

I think the UK is genuinely far right. How many countries have privatised water! We've got loads of the stuff! I was reading yesterday the water  companies paid out 72 billion pounds in dividends over the last few years. At the same time they have poured record amounts of raw sewage into our rivers and seas. There's no incentive for the water companies to invest in modernisation or better services because it affects profits. I believe the UK is far right with regard to its old person's homes and children's homes. How the f**k should you be making profit out of the vulnerable?

Anyway I tend to be as predictable  in my left wing views as you are about race. We've had these discussions many times. I give up. I'm sulking,I deserved an A_ for my post about what far right means.

The privatisation of utilities was Thatcher's doing. She was far right. The problem is that it is far, far more difficult to nationalise industries than privatise them. And governments only last a maximum of 5 years so these plans go on the back burner.
