Unemployment higher at end of labour government,??  where did you get that from, it was spouted by one of your tory MPs but is it true? Perhaps we have had higher employment following some labour governments but those employed under a tory government are needing foodbanks and benefits to survive. I see the current employment situation as a failure rather than something to celebrate.

Tories have wrecked our NHS, Police and fire services and given us thousands of food banks. Under labour if I remember correctly we had better public services, better health care, less food banks, could see a GP or dentist, less pot holes, lower pension age....................... and many more. basically a better society under a labour government,

Between 1997 and 2010 Labour was continuously in government. Here are Labour’s top 50 achievements during those years.

  1. Longest period of sustained low inflation since the 60s.
  2. Low mortgage rates.
  3. Introduced the National Minimum Wage and raised it to £5.52.
  4. Over 14,000 more police in England and Wales.
  5. Cut overall crime by 32 per cent.
  6. Record levels of literacy and numeracy in schools.
  7. Young people achieving some of the best ever results at 14, 16, and 18.
  8. Funding for every pupil in England has doubled.
  9. Employment is at its highest level ever.
  10. Written off up to 100 per cent of debt owed by poorest countries.
  11. 85,000 more nurses.
  12. 32,000 more doctors.
  13. Brought back matrons to hospital wards.
  14. Devolved power to the Scottish Parliament.
  15. Devolved power to the Welsh Assembly.
  16. Dads now get paternity leave of 2 weeks for the first time.
  17. NHS Direct offering free convenient patient advice.
  18. Gift aid was worth £828 million to charities last year.
  19. Restored city-wide government to London.
  20. Record number of students in higher education.
  21. Child benefit up 26 per cent since 1997.
  22. Delivered 2,200 Sure Start Children’s Centres.
  23. Introduced the Equality and Human Rights Commission.
  24. £200 winter fuel payment to pensioners & up to £300 for over-80s.
  25. On course to exceed our Kyoto target for reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
  26. Restored devolved government to Northern Ireland.
  27. Over 36,000 more teachers in England and 274,000 more support staff and teaching assistants.
  28. All full time workers now have a right to 24 days paid holiday.
  29. A million pensioners lifted out of poverty.
  30. 600,000 children lifted out of relative poverty.
  31. Introduced child tax credit giving more money to parents.
  32. Scrapped Section 28 and introduced Civil Partnerships.
  33. Brought over 1 million social homes up to standard.
  34. Inpatient waiting lists down by over half a million since 1997.
  35. Banned fox hunting.
  36. Cleanest rivers, beaches, drinking water and air since before the industrial revolution.
  37. Free TV licences for over-75s.
  38. Banned fur farming and the testing of cosmetics on animals.
  39. Free breast cancer screening for all women aged between 50-70.
  40. Free off peak local bus travel for over-60s.
  41. New Deal – helped over 1.8 million people into work.
  42. Over 3 million child trust funds have been started.
  43. Free eye test for over 60s.
  44. More than doubled the number of apprenticeships.
  45. Free entry to national museums and galleries.
  46. Overseas aid budget more than doubled.
  47. Heart disease deaths down by 150,000 and cancer deaths down by 50,000.
  48. Cut long-term youth unemployment by 75 per cent.
  49. Free nursery places for every three and four-year-olds.
  50. Free fruit for most four to six-year-olds at school.

Ps Labour  supported Brexit.

You think banning fox hunting was an "achievement ??????

They banned ALL hunting with dogs with the exception of rats and rabbits.

They made criminals of me and many others , including yourself, if you work your dogs, and you consider that an "ACHIEVEMENT" ???

Cheers.

How some people have the audacity to moan that our country is becoming like the third world when they openly welcome the third world into our country is beyond my logic !

They inherited low inflation, low mortgage rates tied to low interest rates. 14k police, but an untold number of illegal and legal immigrants, countering all investment in NHS schools etc. G

Labour were apoplectic with the Tory's planned NI rise....... Now Labour are apoplectic that the planned NI rise is cancelled ! Labours default setting is simply to oppose anything the Tory'

I will tell you what Labour did. They opened the floodgates for any immigrant in the world to come here and that’s why our services are under pressure. No country can sustain a thousand illegals a day arriving on their shores

You forgot put 5 million on sickness benefits as they didn’t show up on the unemployment records and sold Britain’s gold reserves when prices were at rock bottom, ????

Yes, they altered the way unemloyment figure were calculated. So at a stroke they drastically reduced unemployment simply by fiddling the figures.

Yes, and privatisation of the care for the elderly which has resulted in the current high prices of poor oap care. They introduced Plastic Police and other unskilled, unqualified people doing the jobs of teachers and nurses. The increase in police, health and education numbers were down to these Community Support Officers, Curriculum Support Staff and Auxillaries working in nurse's positions. They reduced crime by altering the way it was recorded just like altering the way recording unemployment figures was altered. All reports of criminal damage under £19 did not count towards the figures so all over the country Chief Constables got crime management staff to alter the values of property damaged to under £19. They also made rich people like Robert Maxwell and Rupert Murdoch much richer.

But more than anything else Bliar, Broon and Meddlesome created the immigration problem by advertising to the Third World that they would find housing and employment in the UK. From that day on the country has been flooded with illegal immigrants that cannot be sent back due to the Human Rights Act and slimy lawyers like Biar, Broon and Starmer challenging common sense for their own gain.

New Liebour was all about smoke & mirrors.

It’s all academic anyway because Labour don’t have the first clue how to become electable.

Nobody in their right mind is voting for them pricks

It will imho boil down to how fed up with the tories the voting public will become like they did with John Major and voted Tony Blair in which i think could happen again.

Hopefully it’s an opportunity for a good strong alternative think people are generally pissed off with the mainstream and it would be a good time for a more nationalist party to emerge while there are still enough natives to vote them ?

Blair & Campbell had that election planned to the last detail years before it ever happened mate…..all the ducks in a row.

Its all in Blair’s autobiography.

Labour now on the other hand are a bunch of freaks and traitors and misfits and rich boys trying to be “down with the common folk”……nobody is buying what these c**ts are selling surely ?

They also had agreements with those who had been financially supporting the tories; Cadbury being one of them. Bliar promised to carry on with tory policies in return for their cash. 'Old' Labour had run out of money. He needed new sources of income. Traditionally all Labour PMs invite the leaders of the largest unions to Downing Street immediately after taking residence. Bliar invited business leaders to the inaugural party.

The situation today is not very different to back then. Public sick of the tories lining their own pockets and Labour being morally bankrupt. It is begging for Farage or somebody of similar views and ability to step in.
