For those earning over a 150 thousand its a bonus and feck the rest of us, basically Tories looking after their own as usual. Investing in the country rather than reducing tax on super rich would bring economic growth and benefit us all directly improving infrastructure and jobs, then following the EU with a tax on the mega profits of energy firms would reduce the longer term tax burden a little. Basically we and our children will be paying back the debts for generations to come.

People in Bolton North East failed to see where the Plan for Growth will help those struggling to pay bills

Scared it may just work ?

How some people have the audacity to moan that our country is becoming like the third world when they openly welcome the third world into our country is beyond my logic !

They inherited low inflation, low mortgage rates tied to low interest rates. 14k police, but an untold number of illegal and legal immigrants, countering all investment in NHS schools etc. G

UK tax revenue is below the average of other developed economies. The UK stands out as raising less from social security contributions.

And yet taxation is the highest it’s ever been……that’s a conundrum isn’t it !

Maybe Arthur Laffer was onto something ?

Yes, I get that but, ultimately it's going to take too long to get to the point where it benefits the people that need it the most or, A lot of the extra money generated will stay in the companies and people will see very little or no benefit from it.

'VAT free shopping for overseas visitors' is about benefiting foreigners - it's chucking them a sweetener to get them to spend their money here.

I just think that our own should have the same or better terms than we're giving to foreigners.

Giving them an incentive to give us money. Just because it benefits them too doesn’t mean it is about benefitting them. It’s entire intention is to benefit out economy. It has draw backs (dropping tax revenues) and will clearly also benefit foreigners (tax break) but it’s just wrong to declare that it is only intended to be to the benefit of ‘foreigners’. It’s like saying we only grow wheat to benefit pigeons.

If I was to guess I’d say the UK has a bit of a trade deficit right now and they wanted to fix that but they didn’t have the bottle to completely wipe out such a considerable tax stream at a time of such poor government finances. VAT is a huge earner for public finances.

With this tax break, the tanking pound, and the massive national marketing event that happened recently, I’d say the UK looks very appealing to foreigners to come and contribute to our GDP right now.

By encouraging economic activity. Literally creating economic growth. Literally adding income to businesses to create healthier finances. You don’t see how that helps British workers?

This has even less to do with illegal immigrants than it does ‘foreigners’.

Why is the UK taxing us less than some other countries a bad thing ?

Looking at the the graphs, we in the U.K. are taxed lower than some countries, higher than other countries.

If the figures said we are the highest taxed in the developed world, people would complain,

if we were the lowest taxed in the developed world, others would complain!

Go figure ?

Or, as someone once said: " there are lies, damned lies.....and statistics! "

Cheers.

Public services aren't crumbling because of under investment. They are crumbling because the system they are based on is unsustainable.

We get it, you don't like conservatives. I don't think anyone on here is a fan of any political party least of all the conservatives.....but you can only piss with the cock you've got and we have them. Nobody takes your posts seriously in any way because we all know your motives behind them.

You posted a link above about people's opinions in Bolton. Bolton is an absolute shite hole. I've been there this morning, because unlike you I'm not lucky enough to live in the 'un ethnically enriched' south west. It's shite because of mass immigration and local labour policies. The area in your link is only represented by a Tory because even the scumbags and ethnics got sick of the corruption and policies of the previous Labour MPs and councillors. My village is swamped with people trying to escape Bolton and what it's become. Let's not pretend more labour, more enrichment and more borrowing to throw at already broken systems like the NHS would solve it.

Jobs fcked and it will take more than Tory bashing, borrowing and taxing the rich to solve it.

Mate of mine had 70 lads working for him, went bust in the first recession, started again and built it up once more from scratch. Having a nervous breakdown in the process. He already pays nearly half his earnings in tax, then all the other tax on everyday things. Yeah he's rich....but taxing him more will just make him sell up and retire abroad.

Labour were apoplectic with the Tory's planned NI rise.......

Now Labour are apoplectic that the planned NI rise is cancelled !

Labours default setting is simply to oppose anything the Tory's propose.

I watched Labours Wes Streeting being interviewed on Sky this morning, he condemned every part of yesterday's budget, but had no answer when asked what Labour would do.

All he could say was they wouldn't divulge their plans until they are in power.

Theyve spent the last few years calling the Tory's the party of tax rises, now they are screaming because the Tory's are cutting taxes !

Im no Tory supporter, and I wish we had a decent opposition........but Labour aren't the answer.......

Cheers.
