Co Down Hunt  Dog Show and Raceday, Saturday 18^th June 22.

What a beautiful day we had on Saturday 18^thJune at the County Down Hunt Dog Show and Race day. The sun shone all day with a cool mountain of mournes breeze blowing in the background. The crack was good, and the showing and racing was top class.  What more could a Country Sports  enthusiast want. 

There was a big turnout of Terriers, Lurchers, Whippets, Strong Dogs and Weight pulling. The venue was superb, rings well spaced out, a burger stand on site, and a raffle with some good prizes.

As the morning progressed to noon, very soon the 4 show rings were filled with Top dogs, and to be honest a judges nightmare.

 As Mrs and Mr Raynard are in the maternity ward at this time of year, it was great to see our field dogs enjoying their summer break showing themselves off in the ring. That is what our summer shows are all about, full of pride, fun and excitement.

Time passes so quickly, and very soon it was show time. 

Showing started at approximately 1.00 pm, followed by Racing.

Finally, many thanks to the judges on the day for a job well done. Whippets/JP OHagan, Terriers/Mark Chapman, Strong Dogs/Andy Spence, Lurchers/Steve Henson, Northamptonshire,/ Hounds/ David Robinson, Scotland ex MFH of Cumberland Farmers Hunt.

I cannot forget what a brilliant job the Mc Grath Race team carried out on the day. Everything went like clockwork and without a hitch. Excellent and well done to team Mc Grath.

Finally,Finally, this top show would not of been possible without this brilliant show organiser. Yes, I would like to thank the coordinator  of this spectacular event Lee Peters and his band of helpers for another top show and race day. It was obvious a lot of thought, organisation, hard work and sleepless nights went into making this event so successful on the day. Thanks Lee for a most enjoyable day, a brilliant venue, and I look forward to more of the same in 2023.
