Just took the dogs for their morning walk and my slightly dopey white whippet/grey took off after a roo, which they never do when rabbiting and hit an open weldmesh gate. Slight cut under her eye but has knocked her bottom canine out leaving a deep hole in the gum. Do I need to see a vet or will this heal? I'm pretty sure the whole tooth came out, cheers.

Bicarb and rinse with water or that oxygenated water stuff (forget the name in English), it’ll fizz like a cnut but will empty the wound. After that let it heal naturally. A gum should start to granulate within hours, if not less. It’s going to be sore, so soft food and keep cleaning it.

Losing a tooth/teeth no matter where in the mouth has nothing to do with jaw strength or ability and will not compromise the jaw at all. The majority of “hard” terriers that have reached a decent age hardly have a tooth left left in their mouths and their jaws work just fine.
