The way I look at things,...the game has changed dramatically, these last few years, and will obviously change, even more so.. bearing in mind that I am an antique, and ancient in the extreme,...I can still foresee a massive change in the style/type of hunting canines, that will be required...Some lads will still walk the fields after the hares, and plenty will be, out and about, with the dazzler,.. but, the Law is now our big enemy, and legislation has insured that the Lurcherman is going to be heavily penalised, for even the most trivial of wildlife offences. Part of me yearns for the old days when I could,  'do as I please", but,.. another part of me, has accepted the way things have to be..

With that in mind,.. I do believe that for many enthusiasts, the day of the roustabout Cur has dawned..

Its a fecking shame,...because the Coursing dogs have now reached a pinnacle of quality,.. mostly through judicious , selective breeding and vigorous testing, and to let that all die out, through not being able to run them,..is nie-on criminal,...same with many other 'specialist types'...

I guess there will always be lads who will risk, a walk on the wild side in order to use their jukels, but I predict in the future it wont just be oldies and Help the Aged feckers like me, that are fielding, mutts and scatter-bred, grass vergers...

I personally thinks it’s done , another 10/15 years running dogs will be either muzzled or a ban of dogs off the lead , some areas lurchers and terriers are part of the scenery and not rare to see hounds kicking about but others well you can’t walk down the street with a running dog , tides turned I think you will be able to hunt in the massively rural areas but other than that pretty fecked

Somebody was asking about the black country sting, I think we all know whats meant by that.

Well here is a photo of a perfect picture postcard lurcher, bred by the terrible little instigator of that sting.

I called them picture postcard dogs for a reason.

I have found out over many years that picture postcard houses look great on the outside, but inside they are always unsound and often rotten to the core.

One thing I will say about my beardie/border x greyhound was that he was the most laid back dog I have ever come across...he loved to just sleep at home. If a chucked a ball for him he would not  move a muscle. If my nephews came in the house...no joke he would leave his bed and go for a sleep in his kennel. However take him out for a walk and he switched to a totally different dog. I was only a rabbit hunter but he was mad for foxes.

Hence my statement before about the type of collie. I found if I used welsh collies, they would have a natural cantankerousness for foxes especially the dogs.

If I used a Scottish bred collie, it was more likely to piss itself when it saw a fox.

This is the route im staying down

These two mongrel pups will be used

for ferreting and mouching about

They only carry bit less than a

quarter sighthound, but will be fine

for what i do daytime

 have half cross collie as well for a bit of lamping

they have beddy and collie also in the breeding so have a bit of a head start

I like the beardy crosses I like the way they work and actually find them really easy to live with I've got a first cross border greyhound first one I've ever had with no beardy in it she is not as easy to live with but isn't really any bother to be fair never seen a kelpy cross but have seen some beating last couple of years really clever dogs
