A couple of years ago we visited the site of a former concentration camp in France. There was the remains of a hut that used to hold over 60 inmates. The footprint was only a little bit bigger than that of our 2 berth motorhome.

Ok can some one go fix that please. My biggest concern last week was could I hold bottom with a 4oz gripper ffs things are really escalating

You can now put your mind at rest. Big news announced yesterday that the UK is on that job.

Upgrading the Royal Navy's destroyer fleet to have a full 'sensor to shooter' anti ballistic missile capability. Much needed.

You do tickle me with your mad love of all this war tech, try not to believe all the hype, my daughter in law was in the navy for many years and one of her last trips was to go and tow that super destroyer that looked like a stealth bomber, it was so shit they towed it everywhere and sat on it listening to AK rounds bouncing off it, it was when Syria was kicking off i think it was moored up off shore so everyone thought we were there with our new super war ship, towed in after dark and towed back when it was finished but looked the bollox on the news ?

Retired Adm. James Stavridis, a former supreme allied commander of NATO, argued this week ships under the auspices of the United Nations, NATO or a coalition of nations could escort convoys of grain as U.S. naval vessels escorted oil shipments in the 1980s, amid tensions with Iran.

“You can take the grain out by truck or train, or you can take it out by sea. Right now, the sea lanes are blocked by mines and the Russian navy. In order to open up those sea lanes would require a very significant military effort,” Milley said. If policymakers opted for it, “it would be a high-risk military operation that would require significant levels of effort.”

To me this is close to being as escalatory as enforcing a no fly zone. One of the key difference being, the consequences of inaction are more keenly felt and so more motivating.

Strategic outcomes aside, a no fly zone would've simply reduced Ukrainian civilian deaths, it wouldn't have helped us safe in the West. Whereas allowing the shipping blockade to continue will and is having economic consequences for us 'safe in the West'. It's not quite as easy to just ignore it.
