Brea Rooneys Charity Dog Show Sunday 30th January 2022  in Aid of Autism

In the heart of Orchard County on the southern shores of Lough Neagh, with its rich tapestry of Lakeland, Parks and golf and Ski Centre, lies the beautiful Silverwood Equestrian Arena. This was the magnificent venue for Brea Rooneys  Charity Dog Show in aid of Autism.

Rising by the bell on a bleak January morning, but it was a sunny day in our hearts as this was the first dog show of the year.  It was a great feeling to be alive, in good health, and with our dogs as we arrived at our destination at approximately 10.30am.

The atmosphere in the field was electric with the sound of barking dogs, breakfast wafting in the air, and Brea Rooney of her young years scurring about putting the finishing touches to what was to be a most memorable day.

The good Canine folk of Ireland, both north and south of the border made Breas dream come true and came out in force to support this very special cause. I have said it before and I will say it again, the generosity of our Country Sports fraternity knows no bounds when it comes to Charity events, and many Charities have benefited from our dog shows down through the years.

So early in the year, it was great to see so many huntsmen and women at this show. Shane Brett, and Brian and Charmaine Grady travelled from the deep south,  from Laois and Wexford to support this worthy cause. Charmaine had her new addition to the Grady kennels, her so cute Italian Greyhound. I fell in love with him so much, I felt like running away with him.

Upwards and onwards, time passes so quickly when you are having fun, and very soon it was showing time.

Here are the Results.

Hope I have got them all right. Because of the wet day most of the results were washed away of the sheets with the rain, but with all your help I hope I have got them all right.

And Finally, the best I always save to last. Well what can I say that will gather the skills, fuelled spirit and determination together, of this young woman Brea Rooney. Along with your dad Neil Rooney and your brilliant back up team, you have pulled together a great sporting event with super efficiency.

Brea, you and your family have faced Autism first hand. While your little brother encounters difficulties and challenges on a daily basis in different areas of life, It is important to remember that no two autistic individuals will share the exact same pattern of difficulties.

At the tender age of 16 years, your early adult, thoughtful, and loving mind just does not only focus on your own family, but on every other single member of the autism family in the community. In doing this through your Charity Dog Show, you have raised the large sum of £2,800. How many families will this help through very trying times in the autistic world.

Remember all good Canine men and women its your money that will help ease the pain in some small way of some of people suffering in the community.

Brea, you are a young lady in a million with a giving heart, and well done for this very worthy cause.  Thank you for the memories.

Margaret Mc Stay
