boys ! i finally found one !! lil back story, me and the old man used to talk about getting almost this excact same gun for my first deer rifle back in the day all the time . H&r .223 bull barrel with the thumbhole stock. well  they went outta business and the price for these things has shot though the roof. But me and dad agreed if we ever saw one for a decent price we'd snag it for .... reasons well walked into the pawn shop today looking for some 30mm rings and saw ole bubba looking over something familiar looking . Listened in and hear ".223" and that distinct pop they make when you open em up. Man as soon as he put it down I walked over asked how much ,as soon as they say $350 i told em i want it on lay a way ! Called the old man up and told him what I got and he's happy as a clam Just $250 more bucks over the next two months and she'll hanging in the gun room 

Pretty good way to end the year imo Now I just gotta order a rebounding hammer to replace the factory one

A very nice rifle. Doesn`t it have a rebounding hammer from the factory? Are the firing pin fixed to the hammer?

Think they have a separate pin and a transfer bar or interrupter bar to prevent accidental discharge IIRC.

Yep and can't stand em. Makes it to where you basically have to have a 5-6lbs trigger. Heck it's not uncommon to have them up to 8lbs. No creep either just solid trigger weight. You can polish a few parts to drop it down but you do one just a little too much then it's too fast for and the anvil won't stay up and you won't fire the round unless you slap the trigger.  Honestly I prefer the rebounding hammer.  Gets rid of like 70% of the guts and just don't cock it till your ready to shoot . Just put it on half cock when not in use

Suprised no one has tried taking up the design and building them. Simple enough compare to oner guns

Done many of this type of trigger. Its not the design that makes them heavy. It's how the sears are cut. They are made so they act like hooks. Made that way for litigation. Carefully stone the sears flatter and the weight drops.

May take several attempts. Don't do what fools do, get lighter springs!

And she's mine, just gotta wait till this winter vortex crap to calm down so I can shoot some test groups and get some fire formed brass. First time I bought center fire ammo ( other then steel cased 7.62x39)in close to three years ....feels weird

Main thing people liked about them was the fact their switch barrel's and they where low priced .You buy one receiver ( man's most of the times youd but a rifle shot gun combo so like a 20ga barrel and a .243 scoped barrel for like $350)  and with just a Phillips head screwdriver pop one screw and go from a .22 lr to about anything under the sun. 

Like if I wanted to I could swap this barrel and hand gaurd over and put the barrel from my .22 hornet on it in litterly like a minute

No to mention you can buy base batteries rent a hand reamer and rem them out to stuff like a .357 maximum. That also had some more caliber later on like 6.5 x 55 swiss 7.62x39 and a bunch more I can't remember but tier harder to find

And barrels where cheap, think like $250 Max for some of the reallly nice ones. But for like $150 you could order whatever barrel you wanted though the mail with no paper work or anything.

My first real kinda gun was actually a a NEF ( basically the same thing) with a .22lr barrel and a .410 barrel.  At ten I could swap barrel shoot  and maintain that little gun no problem. Still have it actually

That and they just plain worked . I actually have two or three old one from like 1905 basically the same gun stocks are held together with duct tape but they just Plain work.

Lots and lots of kids got them for their first rifles because again you can start them out on a .22lr for squirrels then a. 410 for rabbit and just keep moving on up.

They also had a few different versions to fit eveyone you had basic ones for cheap truck guns ,youth models ,some varmit stuff like mine even survival versions with cool stock with hidden compartments

For me personally it's more a emotional thing because me and dad always talking about getting this excact one for me as my first center fire but never got around too it lol. All in all their just good cheap versatile little guns that generally just work. Shame they stopped production in 2018 I think . So now prices are through the roof. Honestly though the way you guys are over there's I'm surprised they didn't take off much in the UK or at least someone over there copy them
