Looks to be a Pyecombe Crook...the Sussex Downland Shepherds used to carry them...

I could have bought several, over the years, wish that I had now

You still see the odd one, on the wall of country Pubs..

Brings back memories, of when I travelled to Hungerford, to buy, a stuffed Smithfield,....it was emotional...

Think I've just seen the modern leg crooks. 

And poultry leg hooks, just made from old plain wire

As for the leg cleet i was told my one was a fowl crook by a old boy i showed it to as his father had one and only ever had farmed fowl and used one regular catching them..
