If it was that easy we wouldn't need to use ferrets to chase rabbits from the warrens into the nets!

The rabbits will wander into it and chew their way out. Sometimes they get tangled and die slowly. Foxes and badgers will also get in the nets and make a right mess or kill the rabbits in the net and ruin it trying to eat the trapped rabbits or drag them away.

If you are going to set a longnet and leave it, buy yourself a decent repair kit, you will need it!

Stick with it read up on this site their is plenty of great information on long netting and people more than giving you good advice. I only got into long netting around two years ago and like you didn’t know much. Watched a lot of utube videos and asked a lot of questions. You will get their before you know it. Good luck and keep at it.

That's what happened. Second time I set the net I left it for about 4 hrs. There was a bunny in there but a big hole/rip in the net near the rabbit . Might have been a fox. Don't know. U live and learn (the hard way unfortunately).

Been there, seen it, done it, got the T shirt!!!

I used to demonstrate longnetting at shows and the number of "experts" who told me how they would set their nets, go to the pub for the evening and go back to the nets and take the rabbits out was incredible.  In the end I just used nod my head and say nowt!

The big hole in your net could have been a badger but more likely a rabbit having a snack!

Hello. New to longnetting. Possible silly question; if you put a longnet infront of a Warren while the rabbits are still in there, is there a chance, once it's dark, that the rabbits will come out of their holes and walk into the net not seeing it, get themselves nicely tangled up?

I have a book called long netting peg to peg ,if you would like it send me pm with address and I pop it in post after Xmas for you ,once you read it then put it up for someone else ,atb mooch

Book tells you all you need to no
