I have been told the pawnbrokers are giving them cash straight away were as it would have to stand 7 day's.

It's part of the "cost of living package" that Boris announced a couple of weeks ago.

If you live in property that is subject to council tax, not all but most will get £150 back from your council. 

I got a letter this morning inviting me to apply for it.

You can do it on line or by phone.

A one off payment of 150 I got mine last month as I pay direct debit.

Other parts of "the package" are they are scrapping the £200 loan that would have to be paid back, for our energy bills, and making that a £400 payment that doesn't have to be paid back.

Also, the poorest in society will receive a one of payment of £650.

And pensioners will get an extra £300 on top of their usual £200 "warm homes" payment.

Theres also billions being given to councils to give out in individual circumstances.

Very Socialist policy for a Tory government.

I think WILF meant that people were doing overtime and only earning an extra 20 quid because of the extra tax. I found that when I worked cards in on a farm for more or less minimum wage.....you would do stupid hours extra overtime at lambing or silaging and be buzzing waiting for the pay packet only to realise it really wasn't worth it. Do you pay more tax on overtime hours? I'm not sure

Sort of agree with the food banks. I think it's lack of intelligence that causes it in some people. They really can't work out that they are paying for so many 'extras'....expensive phone contracts, Netflix, takeaways, expensive pets, interest on credit cards etc. They also don't have the intelligence or knowledge to go down the markets and buy/Cook proper food, everything has to be processed for them. I always offered free pheasants and fish on local Facebook groups as I saw it as being a good for fieldsports.....but nobody was interested in free unprossessed food. 

I've also donated my time to food banks and soup kitchens, it was a few years ago so it may have changed....but I wasn't over impressed by the majority of the service users. Again that may have changed

Different councils have different rules sedgemoor are giving DD customers it off each month and have still not "worked out" how monthly card customers will get theirs yet. Bristol monthly cards customers had to apply for it.

No you would pay the same tax rate unless you go above the higher threshold, which kind of defeats Wilfs argument because they must be on a shit hot wage so should really pay extra or the rich getting richer argument kicks in, or does that only count for certain parts of our society?

We have a couple here that wont work because they say o/t only gives them x amount per hour what they dont work out is they are earning less than that on their basic hourly rate they dont see beyond the standard weeks pay. In simplistic terms say they take home £10 a hr/40hrs £400 they then work 2 hours at £15 take home £30 so take home £430, they say the extra £30 isnt worth them staying because its just £30 !!!!! Like everything else its their choice and I fully appreciate they might not think working 2 hrs over and above their normal week is worth it but you cant claim victim status when you can make things easier for yourself.

My attitude to stuff can be summed up quiet simply mate, be kind to your own.

It hard to have a decent conversation via the written word, so much gets lost and it comes across like I’m having a go at people all the time when I’m really not…..it’s just a chin wag so to speak.

I know lots of people do it but I’m always very uneasy with kicking those at the bottom when those at the top are such c**ts……not everyone is cut from the same cloth mate, that’s why there are people who start companies and people who work for companies.

I’m all for taking control of your own future, I spent almost my entire working life working for myself, employing lads, 7 days a week and all that old bollocks….I was working for myself at 14 out on the knocker selling dusters and dish cloths and shit like that, that’s when I was expelled.

But I know enough to know not everything is black and white, it’s not always a question of “get a job you lazy c**t” ……the deck is stacked against people anyway and for some that will always be a bridge too far through no fault of their own, it’s just how god made them

On another note, I have always said this is the main problem with the welfare system, enforced charity is no charity at all imho

Dint get me wrong, I think there should be a safety net for people, 100% but when ordinary folks are getting the life wrung out of them for every little thing it creates a “them & us” type culture.

In reality, the welfare cost is absolutely minuscule when you take into account all the other stuff the government iron our money out on but they always want to point folks in the direction of the poor c**t who is trying to keep a family alive on £300 a week !

And of course, it’s a natural reaction for the bloke who is knocking his bollocks out for a monkey and having very little left at the end of the week to get angry about that…..but, and it’s jmho, he is looking in the wrong direction.

This is quiet an interesting number, the Ukraine thing has been going on what ? 3 months ?

The U.K. has given them so far £850 MILLION in various type of aid……that’s £850 MILLION of YOUR money.

Sort of knocks the poor c**t down the food bank begging a can of beans into a cocked hat really don’t it

Interesting point and I  suppose its all relative.

There's a very close relation of mine and his wife who both get PIP, a brand new car every 3 years (they even pay for upgrades on the motor) he got food parcels delivered when the lockdown was on and gets food vouchers. He will get the £600 fuel thing, don't pay any council tax gets help with the rent on his 3 bed house (just him and his wife) and are both claiming enough to be able to have two holidays a year in fact he's said he's better off now than he ever been, 53 not worked for 10years and has no intention of ever going back to work...............thats just one individual of many who's claiming YOUR money he's claiming as well!

Ukrainians are having their country blown to bits loosing their homes and loved ones and have very little option at the moment other than up sticks and leave with the belongings they can carry or stand and fight for their freedom. Now that's a proper "living crisis" Wilf.

Saying that, and this is going to sound horrible, I would still prefer my money didn't go to them but I would also prefer it didn't go to people in this country who wont give up their SKY subscriptions and latest iphones because they need it for their mental well being but plead poverty at every opportunity.

Benefits cost the UK tax payers £212 BILLION per year.

Thats 25% of the entire tax take.

Of course, there are people who need the safety net of benefits, but lets be honest, we all know people who are cheating the system.

What annoys me is when a politician cheats the system, it's barely a slap on the wrist.

The punishment for cheating the benefit system is far more severe !

I look at it like this mate, that bloke could be getting a million quid a week for all I care, it’s completely meaningless to me and I wouldn’t have seen one penny back if he was getting nothing…..good luck to him.

In answer to the second bit, my answer is No !, I don’t think it would take a nose dive because they are being imported here on purpose to replace us.

If we wanted to stop immigration would could do it tomorrow, at the border with no problem what so ever…..benefits wouldn’t even figure.
