OMFG! They're talking about it in US! And quite independently of the guys I know there! ?

That is how news works. Reporters are too lazy to go and find a story so they copy stuff from other papers and social media. We had a police  dog retire early because it wasn't up to the job. It was re-homed to a reporter from a local newspaper who did a short story on the police dog that wouldn't give chase. That was picked by the nationals and then every English speaking country featured the story and in each case the Chinese Whispers effect made a true minor story into a far fetched scenario where the dog allegedly had fallen asleep when chasing a burglar. Reporters from America and Australia were phoning up demanding interviews with the dog handler.

Ironically they all missed the bigger story in how the fecking thing had been passed through its initial course.
