He definitely isn’t bullshitting anyone, he may edit stuff to make a better book I’m sure but he is a mentalist when he gets a bee in his bonnet about a subject and will spend hours, weeks, months devoted to it. You won’t hear a bad word out of me about the man, he was a generous host when I stayed at his house, generous with his books when he had no need to be, good company to be out hunting and fishing with. Absolutely not a Charlie big spuds, humble, realistic about dogs, not up his own arse…..top lad all round. He just genuinely loves natural history and nature, above and beyond almost everything imho…..it more than a hobby, it’s a way of life for him.
