What does that mean

*ACTION REQUIRED*

Flushing to guns is where multiple dogs are used to flush a fox, rabbit, mink or other pest species to a waiting marksman who quickly dispatches the animal.

It is a tool used by farmers, gamekeepers and land managers across Scotland to control pest species in the countryside because it is quick, humane and effective.

The Scottish Government are now trying to outlaw flushing to guns, introducing English style legislation which does not take account of Scotland’s unique need for Scottish solutions to Scottish problems.

Banning flushing to guns would have a devistating effect on the countryside. We should not be following England down the rabbit hole of further limiting working dogs in the countryside.

The Scottish Government’s own review of the legislation supported the practice of flushing to guns with Lord Bonomy who conducted the review saying that “not only that searching and flushing by two dogs would not be as effective as that done by a full pack of hounds, but also that imposing such a restriction could seriously compromise effective pest control in the country, particularly on rough and hilly ground and in extensive areas of dense cover such as conifer woodlands.”

The Rural Affairs, Islands and Natural Environment Committee is asking for people’s views on the Scottish Government’s new Hunting with Dogs (Scotland) Bill.

This Bill is a direct attack on the livelihoods of rural Scots. The Bill aims to ban flushing to guns, except in special circumstances under licence and to outlaw trail hunting.

Please make sure you respond to this consultation by the deadline of 13th May!!

We need Scottish laws for Scottish problems. No to English laws, support flushing to guns!!

I think the point is going from a full pack to two hounds to come in line with English laws………

That point is reached when the fox KNOWS he's being hunted that you got to change from a pack to two dogs to flush it as the law is in England,a fox cannot suffer the stress of a hunt if he don't know he's being hunted or searched for..

A fox does NOT suffer any stress at any point while being hunted... It is actually healthy and completely normal for a fox to be hunted...that and killing is it's whole genetic make up... And the fact that foxes are thriving more now especially in urban areas after the ban is testament to this especially when it is mostly weedy sick or mangey specimens is not only due to their shitty diet..it's also because natural hard wired receptors in their brain and blood make of being hunted or killing naturally is why the species will deteriorate quicker..in my opinion... A healthy fox is a truly wild animal who's part of its daily routine is killing and being chased may that be by a hound a lurcher or a collie out of a farm yard. It just a normal day in the life of a fox.

It's why it's banned here in England because of the stress and suffering hunted fox suffers, just saying a fact..But all animals suffer stress when being hunted and to say they don't is but daft man, they just like every other animal do not suffer stress the same way we do and as for how healthy or not the quarry is has nothing to do with any of it..

The fox is delighted 2 be hunted and at the moment  of capture he salutes the great hounds that have bested him

I'm sure you would love to be chased by a gang of murderous psychopaths, caught and murdered.............sounds great fun.

Hell of alot more sporting than shooting them going about their business with a rifle and NV. .and leaving the cubs to fend for themselves....the most humane way of controlling them is with hounds,a terrier or a runner at night ..any mug can spend a few k and pull a trigger old boy?2120491827_20170115_0853242.jpg.259cc15ed813b5ecdd407e88bd9a1a6b.jpg
