Work place natural selection

Recommended Posts

Gotta ask when in the work place ( given it's not something that can be life threatening) , many chances y'all give some before you let natural selection take play ? Latest bunch of kids they put under me ain't worth crap. I give three chances where I'll try and cover for them after I've trained them up. Mabye their having a off day , mabye they just forgot , mabye I didn't explain something well enough but after that I figure if you can't get any better I just let natural selection take place.

Prime example is one kid I told about three times to stay off his phone because where being watched by a camera and management watches us. Explained if he wants to ear single ear bud I'm fine with that or even if he really need to respond to a mess go where the camera can't see. Tree times he did he understands. What's he do though after the third time? Stand under that camera directly in its line of view tapping away for ten minutes while everyone elese works.  Manager came down sat about ten feet away and watch him before chewing him out.

Same goes with being late . Three times I explained to one be in the parking lot ten minutes early and if he's gonna be late to call me so I can run it up. Twice I spoke on his behalf to management.  Fourth time he's getting written up and asking why I don't help.

Good workers I learned usually only need one chance if that. The bad ones. They use up their three and get caught up in the natural selection of the work place if not babysat 24/7.

What say y'all ?

First lesson I used to say to lads, never assume, make sure. I personally have always hated all that “f**k about with the new lad” mentality……I got a bit of it when I was young and I always thoug

I've been a grafter since my days in the womb, I expect every man and his dog to put 100% effort when they work in my team.  Go hard or go home!

This reminds me of the fella bent over the kitchen sink firing frozen sprouts out of his cornhole as his wife walked in, seemed he'd gone overboard with the hair removal cream, and also left an arse shaped indentation in the family size tub of ice cream

For me, it depends on the individual - if they're a bit slow to learn but, willing to work hard, I'll put in the effort for them. If they're a blatant piss taker, they can f**k off.

Timekeeping is a big thing for me - like Qbgrey said, you turn up early and be ready to start at your start time.

A young lad at our place started Monday and he jacked yesterday no doubt some fecker will blame me as i told him to take his fekin head phones off when i was trying to talk to him then he was using the pump trucks like a scooter going across the warehouse i was convinced he was related to some one high up in the company as he did not give a f**k and gave looks that could kill if you asked him to do any thing.

I'm looking at this from the opposite perspective. I was "only" a class teacher (for about a quarter of a century). I never went any "higher" (note the use of quotation marks?) as I liked teaching kids rather than ordering other adults around and ticking spreadsheets. I was regularly "told off" by my senior management team for not towing the company line. You lot probably would have fired me in my first few weeks for saying, "Nope! I'm doing it my way."? In my defence I was the most popular teacher with the kids and parents though.?

I think it also applies sometimes to getting the best out of folk, how you,or the employer or subby or whatever is deals with people, of course pure lazy bone idleness is going to get f****d off out of it,and if youre not showing the right interest in learning and honing the job then why are you here? You cant get anything out of a dope but attitude toward people goes a long long way in peoples performance and results

Ive always done my own thing,to be honest i dont begrudge anybody who works for a company but the idea of working under somebody for me personally gives me the horrors

I just cant handle the politics and the silly my c**k is bigger than your c**k regarding job roles and length of times ones in the company etc its just not for me at all, and 2 recent examples drum it home even more ,mates son who has been a hoddy for years has transferred to another job site and some c**t has chucked a trowel at him missing his head by inches and hes given the chap a pasting for it,and some lad i know round here is again looking for work because people he was labouring for he kept having to chase his dough and they were always talking to him like s**t

I know ive gone off on a tangent but call it foolish pride or whatever you wanna call it but the idea of ever being in a firm with all the politics and bulls**t that goes with it,and some lemon thinking he can talk a certain way to you because hes been there 5years and youve been there 2,no thanks

I find it a bit sad tbh mate even though it's a shit company i work for its really laid back and nobody gives a feck as long as the job gets done and it's job and done that sometimes we can get done in 5 and half hours then paid a full shift and nobody says anything about going out for a smoke or using your phone but soon as the pace has to step up a lot think feck this the record is an African agency worker who lasted 5 minu?tes
