Yer he’s doing ok, this will be his first propper season where I will push him now and find out what his weaknesses are but going off last season I am really pleased with him ?

beddy collie greyhound mongrely hybrid things is what I use if your not needing a specialist type dog for set job this cross has the jobs in hand ??

The ideal lurcher is the one that works best for you in your country.

Nothing special, well mine won’t anyways ? fact is iv had a few collie crosses over the years sn when I decided I was going down the herder route again I spoke to a guy on here who was planning on breeding a litter to replace his last kelpie cross, so o thought I’d give one a bash, very collie like but very different IMO  but I can get on a herder crosses wavelength so to speak so I figured it would work out, an it has, so far ?

just remember for a lurcher will show some traits from the breeds used, it’s no where near like using a pure herder/bull/terrier, once crosses then the running dog plays a big part in watering them traits down an ofcourse adding it’s own ?

Do you mean that a straight cross say whippet x collie may for instance show some of a collies instinctive behaviour. Whereas whippet collie x greyhound bull the collie blood is more diluted hence the collies instinctive behaviour is much reduced by more breeds being used? I understood that hip displasia was unknown in Track Greyhounds. That is why i dont understand the desire to import it by using German Shepherds or any Pedigree Breed for that matter?

Lovely looking dog. Why do you say Mongrelly? From the breeding it just seems to be  Lurcher. I have a lot to learn. What do you mean by specialist dogs. I can understand why a bit of Bull is good for foxing but can you explain a little about specialist.

Cheers mate ??all Lurchers are mongrels mine I describe as a mongrely thing as it Lurchers to Lurcher to lurcher breeding going back to the 80s she’s a right old mutt her original breeding was line bred collie x until I added bedlington base blood

Tbh mate your probably better off looking at old post on here an making your own mind up.  to me specialist dog bred for a set job to excel at

I think if you want a sensible answer of any one on here you need to say exactly what your looking for in this all rounder what’s your plans what you wanting to hunt what method ie day/night I think everyone can shout there preferred cross at you but you won’t get the correct answer because no one knows your method

Well I only have one dog at a time. This is the first Bitch I have had and I like them if she is typical. Like I said earlier I have always fancied a Lurcher but it has to be a good companion Dog as well. Thats a cracking looking dog in the pic. Whats the breeding?

His a collie grey x bull grey. Best nose I have ever seen and goes at stuff like a bull at a gate. Like having a 27 inch terrier. Bright as a button which means he runs rings around me. My next pup is on order and will be a mix of collie, kelpie grey so that tells you some thing lol

And after you've done this, you'll still get different answers off everybody ?

Plus you might not like or get on with the ideal dog for whatever, and go with something different

Does his Nose ability not distract him from noticing  Rabbits when the run. Some nose orientated dogs have their nose glued to the ground. Sounds a cracking dog. Do you have any decent Pics.

No he air scents a lot. He will stand down wind and just suck it in.
This was close but there was a fox just down in the valley

He will hold a line across field full tilt like a hound. As a pup he would bolt across a field like a bullet and blank me and I thought what a noob but when he got other side he would flush some thing
