We had to move some cable chambers on Saturday night with 6 cables and the ducting all by hand so we can do some piling, was a right ball ache.

When I worked on the telecoms network...I saw some right naughty shit....climbed inside a chamber in the road on the old A48 outside Margam park to connect  the sub duct for the  fibre we was blowing...the roof was held up by scaffold boards and 4 X 2 timbers?was like Nutty f***ing Jake's goldmine at Oakwood ?the things you do for money when young and dumb??

Tuesday's mole-patrol takes me to the north Haute-Vienne and into the Vienne departments. 16 calls today. Last but one call is a 3 acre riverside plot guarded by a single half barrel trap. Something had beat me to the trap site......

There are foxes, badgers and boar visiting this garden and I reckon it was boar that dug the trap up. There was some more ploughing nearby. If it had been one of the other two the trap would have gone. I lose up to 12 a year to four legged thieves.

I honestly don't know. But the site looked like it had been ploughed rather than dug with paws and there was some other ploughing nearby. It might just have been coincidence that the boar worked the trap site. Last year the caretaker called me out as moles had taken over the whole garden overnight ?

Turned out to be boar damage in 8 or 9 areas. From afar it looked like molehills all over the garden.

I regularly lose traps to foxes and badgers and sometimes find the traps nearby. My old spaniel saved me a fortune in the ones she found. Still lose around a dozen a year though.

Working on a proper dodgy job this week, digging out for an outside underground garden room, that will have a block and beam roof with a patio on top, they couldn’t get anyone to do it because once you take out the meter of clay there’s a meter seam of sand that’s running water, got a pump running 24 hours, steel in tomorrow then first pour on Thursday, bit different to my normal views working on posh houses Pretty sure timbers and fence posts are not up to HSE’s standard ?

Lovely bit of H and S that top pic mate man after me own heart cobbled together scaffold and 240 tools think I even have that same blue lead with silver foil round the fuse, top stuff ???

I always figure if it doesn't fall over then its good enough to stand on ?‍♂️ I'm sure one day I will end up falling but until that day comes adapt and overcome anything to get the job done
