Lord Lonsdale lived between 1857 -1944 keen hunting man was master to cottesmore and the pytchley keen coursing man. And boxer. Would recommend the book

Don’t think they was taking over. Just the fashionable mounted packs of the south was keeping there own lines of Russels and surplus would go to farms etc

Lot of  black and tan and red terriers coming down from the North at that time.

Then a few black'uns came on the scene and eveyone realised how good the were.The early ones anyway.
