Kiltrough Lurchers Working Dog Show, Jed and Tricia Donaghs Charity Dog Show in aid of Suicide Awareness  at Duleek , Co Meath Sunday 1st August 21

The town of Duleek, is situated in the quiet valley of the Nanny River in the beautiful County  Meath countryside. Nestling  alongside the   rippling waters of the historic River Boyne, this was the fantastic venue for last Sundays outstanding Working Dog Charity Show in aid of suicide awareness.

The good Canine folk of Ireland, both north and south of the border made this a dream come true and came out in force last Sunday to support this very special cause. I have said it before and I will say it again, the generosity of our Country Sports fraternity knows no bounds when it comes to Charity events.

From early morning cars, trailers, huntsmen and their dogs were arriving in force, and by noon  cars, vans and trailers were parked 4 deep in the field. There was a real carnival atmosphere  with the laughter of children playing around the field, Mick Mc Loughlin and Jessica Donagh belting out our favourite tunes, and the many stalls including burgers and ice cream, and all there for our convenience.

Mark and Amanda Delaney was there with their quality Leads and Collars, and in the sky above us the eye in the Sky Drone captured our triumphs and tribulations in the show ring.

Tricia Donagh, Jeds wife was in charge of the PA system and Master of Cermonies on the day, and did she not do a great job. A real professional that lady was, backed up with a lovely personality, and definitely a big flair for auctioneering. As Tricias beautiful southern brogue rang out over the field, the money kept rolling in from the raffle and auction. The quality of the items in the auction and in the raffle were unique and were all of a very high standard, and all donated from various caring individuals in the community.

Something that melted my heart on the day, was Rose Mc Coys we boy Ethan, winning two Dutch Rabbits and a beautiful new cage, donated by Seamus Hart and Shane Ennis we boy winning the bird in a cage, donated by Billy Harpur. Seamus and Billy, it was worth a million pounds to see the smiles on those we faces.

JP O Hagan won a set of Antlers in the raffle and immediately made them a present to my husband John. This is the kind of good hearted people we have in the doggy world. No doubt John Mc Stay went home a happy camper. I hope he does not decide to hang them over the bed. I would have a heart attack wakening up looking at those horns looking down on me.

Upwards and onwards, time passes so quickly when you are having fun, and very soon it was  showing time.

Here are the Results, hope I have got them all right.

A special word of thanks to Aidan Ryan for the use of his excellent field and venue for the charity show. Aidan, without your generosity, none of this would have been possible, and of that we are truly thankful.

And Finally, Finally, what happens when a Dream comes true. Last Sundays Charity Show was the biggest gathering of Country Sports people I have seen at a show this year. This was all down to two very special caring and thoughtful people on the Canine scene. Jed and Tricia Donagh your giving hearts know no bounds. You went above and beyond the cause of duty to make this show happen. They say Charity begins at home. You coined that phrase in abundance and brought this Charity Show into the homes of all the Canine people on the island of Ireland.

It is a thrill to know that this Charity show for Suicide Awareness, will benefit from the giving hands of Country Sports and the Canine community and all the good hearted sponsors that contributed in any way for this worthy cause.

Suicide wrecks people and homes and it is the people left behind that suffer.  Suicide has no bounds and can crepe into our homes with terrible consequences. Hopefully this support from the Country Sports fraternity will go some way to help people from acting on suicidal thoughts, and keep everybody alive when everything seems dark and dismal and suffering in those painful days. Never suffer alone, talk to someone, we are only a phone call away to help.

Again, Jed and Tricia Donagh and your brilliant back up team, we want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for a most enjoyable day in Duleek, and who says Dreams don’t come true. What a beautiful ending for a great cause.

TALLY HO CHRISTMAS DOG SHOW AND RACEDAY SATURDAY 9th DECEMBER 23

At this time every year we all look forward to our Christmas Dog shows and this year was no different. Saturday morning the 9th December 23 had finally arrived and it was time to load up and head for Ballymena to the Tally Ho Christmas Dog Show and Race Day.
As we drove along the motorway, the winds and rain swept us along, and it became  evident  it was time to get the water proofs on. We were living in hope the rain and wind would subside as the day went on, but unfortunately this was not to happen.
But as the old saying goes the show must go on and that it did. In the face of adversity, howling winds and rain, show organiser Peter Morgan being the man he is and a credit to the Country Sports fraternity, battened up the hatches, hammered down the show rings, got the racing under way, and very soon the 2023 Tally Ho Christmas Dog Show had rolled on.
Tally Ho Working Dog Christmas show and Race day is widely acclaimed as being one of the top shows of the year, and again this year it certainly lived up to its name.  Although the weather was inclement and the worst I have seen in the 25 years I have been at dog shows up and down the country. But on the day, this show was not lacking in Christmas cheer.
Hunting men and women and their wee people left the field and their homes behind them to spend a day out at this great annual Christmas Sporting occasion.
This Christmas Dog Show is always a very welcome break from the busy schedules of Christmas shopping, but can also be a very sad and lonesome time, full of memories of yesteryear. This annual doggie day out lifts this mantle, brings cheer in abundance, and helps us to leave our cares behind if only for a day and that brings rewards in itself.
As usual Santa and his Elf stopped off at the Tally Ho Show to pay a visit on his way to the North Pole with lots of goodies for the children. This is always the highlight of the Christmas show. It was heart warming to hear the children singing Jingle Bells, and the happy smiles on those we faces.
Very soon it was Raffle time. The raffle always generates a lot of   excitement. Some great and valuable Christmas prizes, including a Turkey.
Time flies bye so quickly show time had arrived.

A big thank you to Matt Lee/Joanna Relf Lee /Matthew Lee for being so professional with the racing on the day. Your experience and input was invaluable, and of this the Tally Ho team are extremely grateful. Well done by all.
Finally, Finally, despite the bad weather, the craic and the banter around the rings was mighty and a brilliant atmosphere full of Christmas cheer.
None of this would have been possible without the main man at the helm, and brilliant organiser Peter Morgan and helpers Conor Creagh/another young man/ and Caitlin Hughes.
Peter put this show together all by himself and worked tirelessly and gave up his time to make this day so successful and enjoyable for everyone despite the bad weather.
Peter your show was a credit to you and you made everybody so welcome. As usual you have went over and above the call of duty with your Trophies, Rosettes and Prizes. I have heard nothing but praise of your show from everybody that came my way.
I am sure there were many sleepless nights, but again all credit goes to you Peter Morgan. Peter you carried on regardless like a true huntsman despite the terrible weather situation and carried out a very successful Dog Show and Race Day.
Stay safe Peter and may your giving hand never want. And TO all my Sporting friends, God Bless you all, and have a lovely Christmas with your families and I look forward to meeting up with you all again in 2024.
      Margaret Mc Stay
