Wild Camping, Hiking, Back pack, Tent talk, Mini camper etc.......

Jesus.. I had to scroll back a fair bit to find this thread! It's probably my favourite one on here now since that helmet f**ked the big cat topic up.

Anyroad.. I've actually made a decision and brought a tent. Just mid range. I actually wanted a little one manner. But my camping mate to be suggested a 2 man option would be more practical... ie.. in case he broke a pole or had a rip in his tent. I think he secretly just wants to snuggle up and spoon the f**k out of me!!

Just to add. These are 300 sheets on the Terra Nova website.. just got them back in stock. Place local to me that it seems nobody knows about had a few in stock. £186 with our Doris's ex SAS blue light card.

To be fair.. I'll also use this on campsites too. I'll buy another matt and my Mrs will crash for a night in it no problems.

I'll throw it up on the garden tomorrow if the weather is decent..

and pics to follow.. ?

Gerrin…. ?  @Bush Rummager it’s a cracking tent that’ll happily do 4 seasons if you choose to camp in the winter, you’ll certainly not go wrong with it…

Think I’d be questioning your camping pals motives mind ???

You’ll be bagging camps left, right and centre - make sure you keep the posts and photos coming ?

Cheers mate. Yes.. there seems to be fair few folk using them so thought I'd give one a bash. Mind.. I was tempted by a couple of other tents in the shop.. Terra nova Laser compact 2 and also a Voyager 2. There is a outdoors shop here near Mansfield at the sports direct HQ. Terra nova must just send oddments there or something. I know those tents are higher end than the one I brought but they wasn't quite what I was after.

Voyager..

I’ve been eyeing up the Laser Compact 2 for summer which I was set in buying until I seen a review about a flap that goes over the pole and how much of a faff on it can be, put me right off it… So it’s back to the drawing board for a summer set up…

I’ve not been out for ages, family life and change in career but things looking good for plenty days/nights away with camps and hikes ?

Good spot that Zandy regarding the Laser. Don't end up like me though when it comes to reading reviews.. I can spend 2 days reading reviews on umbrella's or something and still can't make a decision! Lol..

As for kitting myself out.. I've got a Gregory Katmai 55 coming anytime now after ordering a 58 ltr Kestrel and sending it back. Long story!!?

Bag wise.. I was pretty much set on a Rab accent 700. Pretty sure it would be mint quality and it's 3 season which would do me nicely. But.. I'm swaying towards the OEX Leviathan 900 with it being a warmer bag and £60/70 cheaper. Apparently it does leak a few feathers mind!! Ha.. I'd sooner be on the overkill side of things and too warm if anything. I can imagine the temps dropping a fair old bit high up on the tops in the Lakes on a clear night!

Anyway.. glad you're looking forward to getting back out again soon mate.. make sure you put pics up on here.. I need the inspiration!!

Can't beat a good old yomp around in the mountains eh!!

Roll the f** k on!!?

Little update.. if anyone's interested.

Picked a Rab accent 700 down bag up after a fair bit of research and it's one that Zandy recommended. Mega price from Go outdoors.. in-store price of £174. Cheapest online is around £220. Seems proper good quality. Fingers crossed it will be tested soon..

Packs down nicely to about the size of a honey dew melon!!?

I'm pretty much ready to go. Picked a titanium mug and bowl up recently. The single walled mug was still red hot an hour after filling it with boiling water on a test run.. just want i wanted, will be getting my hands around that plenty I'm sure.

Ha ha… @Bush Rummager I’m loving the pic for FD ???

Ive still not managed a camp lately but definitely on the cards as I found a summer shelter for sale locally at an absolute steal that I just could refuse especially when it came with a separate mesh inner that are like rocking horse shit to get hold of and treat myself to a summer backpack too which as £85 BNWT was a no brainer… I did manage to get out for a good wander the other day so still stretching the legs…

Hi guys , bit of a long shot , but I’m due to imminently move to the plains of my people and have heard rumours of a firemonger of weapons ??
He is said to be a purveyor of the uks finest steel tomohawks and one of the last true dwarf weapon masters
if anyone can point me in the right direction , I’d be greatly pleased

I want to purchase a pair of boots for the colder weather, I do a lot of walking, and some trekking about the hillsides and trails. I do not want "winter boots" but rather boots that would be suitable for a cold day, but would work with layers of socks rather than thick heavy boots. Several people have told me Meindl is an excellent brand, and that is great, but what kind ? Hiking ? Walking ? Do they make them that they would serve the purpose mentioned above ? Any specifics to look for in a boot for this purpose ?
      Thank you in advance,
      Lynn

Sorry gentlemen to bother you, but I have come to my wits end. My neighbour across the way lets her dog roam as it please when it comes to shitting and urination, she is too lazy to actually take the dog out herself. He seems to have taken to my property and a certain area just under my bedroom window. I do not want to hurt the dog for the sake of her ignorance, but I do very much need to stop him from doing it any longer. The grass and  the shrubs are dying and turning brown and the flowers are just rank with smell that floats up through my bedroom window.
He is a VERY OVERWEIGHT beagle and leaves behind some damn good deposits.
I am wondering short of doing something stupid, what can I do to deter the dog from that area or any patches of garden I have? I plan to go to the council about the problem, and lay some of it on the town manager who is an acquaintance of mine, but in the meantime, any tricks out there to make my flowers and bushes unsavoury.
      Thank you in advance,
      Lynn
