24" rather than 23" but has the speed, stamina,  tough feet etc, uses her nose when required, natural retrievers, good strike and breeds true to type ? ?20210518_131224.jpg.6cadb8e2fe130a1744600969da19baf9.jpg

Although I'd class  her as general purpose rather than a rabbit specialist.

Is that galgo fully grown at 24” TTS? Very interesting I thought they’d be similar height to a grey. Looks a beauty of a dog I’d say it would put away a lot of what you put in front of it

? I know you are not too keen on the Blue Merles,..so I always fetch one along, just to annoy ya? The wee bitch that you might have seen run, one or two shushis, would be Angel.. I remember,

just for lamping I'd go for a pure whippet, for daytime bushing/ferreting i'd add a bit of beddy/grey but keep it 3/4 sighthound.  Beddy/whippet X grey, 23 inches, basically a bred down grew with

Would have to agree with you TOMO?  Facts are, IF...you can get a fast type to slow down, use his head, instead of his muscles, then the quarry is half way into the bag. You have proved it yourse

Yes for a bitch, they 24 to 26, dogs 26 to 27 smaller and lighter than a greyhound, look tiny stood next to some of the modern track greyhounds but bred for a different job. They can put a decent shift in, I mainly lamp, and they take to it like ducks to water but there's nothing better than a good dog in the daytime and they always give that potential to get the heart racing..

But not crosses so was a bit of a tongue in cheek answer?

?As stated, the best choice for a rabbiting dog, is the fecker that can regularly catch'em..?

I've settled on my own style of jukel,...they have been selectively bred by myself, for myself, and to meet the requirements of my local area..We all love our lurchers, but essentially, they have to do the job for which they are intended,..so,..it makes sense to use the right tool for that job...Different terrains will often require, a faster, stronger, bigger, smaller,..different style of hunting partner....I have kept all sorts for the rabbit job, and to be honest, I've sometimes kept a sledgehammer, to crack a nut? Now, I have got the mix just about right,...and I am enjoying my Hedgerow Curs...?

Stay safe Brothers,..all the best, OldPhil?

Some good posts an some cracking dogs posted, iv had a few half decent rabbit dogs over the years, all had there faults/limits an I tried to work them to get the best from them, I’m all about the easy life now, less stress, less hassle an less time Fcuking about means more time doing what I want. So my choice of dogs reflects that, is the halfx kelpie greyhound my preferred choice of cross, no, but is at this time in me life ?

Very much alike but also different pal, they are quick thinkers an don’t need told what to do, if mine is anything to go by, i liked the border crosses as as soon as you figured out what made them tick, got them to see you as part of the team then they would do literally anything you told em, I never tried a full on beardiex so can’t an won’t comment on em, but did have a 3/4 grey 1/8 border 1/8 beardie an the beardie influence( or lack of border) deffo made it a diff dog to me, it likes to suss stuff out but could still be touchy.

this bitch here if I had to describe it would be very very similar to a collie/bull/grey, needs to be kept busy,  but a real nice animal to have around ?

i get the bit were you say have to show them your part a the team mate  some dogs are brighter better hunters then lad with the lead ?

yours looks strong take what you throw at type mate i rate collie crosses good ones are  good ?

You hear good things about the cross I could see my self going down that route at some point.. I have a little collie type bitch on that moment suits me down to the ground.. I think the kelpie blood really fills them out and gives them good bone structure
