Yes he was right, the Minshaw dogs were far to big, but they sailed over the wires. There was couple of lads that came up with them, one eventually moved over to Alsatian cross. I cannot remember names. when the rabbit numbers crashed in Caithness I moved onto other things.

That's my pal

? Taken a lot of rabbits over the last 60 years with various working dogs,....but, under the spotlight,..I would think that 78 with my Sadie , back in the 1980's would be the most that I've grassed in

try again.. 63 taken the night before ....took this pic before we set off ferreting

It's not allways about numbers. Not to long ago, I was lucky enough to be invited to the Cairngorms for a weekend, by Northernlite and Taysider. We had a fantastic time, but one naysayer moc

No big number pics. But had some very happy times and fond memories of  travelling up North to Scotland for a week's or weekends hunting holiday . Fell in love with it first time I went at nineteen years old, truly gods own country.

Didn't Tommy mcphee sell his bitch Ruby I think her name was? To some lads from Wales?

I believe she was called ruby, not sure the rest of it. But got a funny story relating to that. A crew of lads I used lamp and dig with in the 90,s . Went on a week's rabbiting holiday to Caithness called in to see Tommy and either bought a small whippety type lurcher off Tommy or a relative, can't remember exact details as years ago. Anyway these lads was stopping in a rental cottage and went and bought the dog, and decided that night to go on the piss in the two local pubs. Left the dog loose in the cottage. But when they came back from the boozer, the dog had eaten everything,  the curtains , a big hole in sofa , arms on sofa , carpets the lot ! It was that bad the damage they just did one back to England straight away  lol. Now i am not condoning the damage , just was a funny story that's all.

The posh bit

I met quite a few lads from Manchester during the mid-late 1980's that lamped the A9 stretch of sutherland ?

There was a shooting news writer, he was a glaswegian plasterer by trade, I think he moved up to caithness after visiting Tommy Mcphee a few times.
