I wasn't born into the lurcher word far from it and my first dog was nothing like a lurcher, that came at a later date and for people info the first things I hunted were hedgehogs, rats etc oh and bull finches.

This miss understanding came about out of a simple statement that i started hunting in 1954 or there about's and nowhere did I say with lurcher.

Well that's cleared up then

? Taken a lot of rabbits over the last 60 years with various working dogs,....but, under the spotlight,..I would think that 78 with my Sadie , back in the 1980's would be the most that I've grassed in

try again.. 63 taken the night before ....took this pic before we set off ferreting

It's not allways about numbers. Not to long ago, I was lucky enough to be invited to the Cairngorms for a weekend, by Northernlite and Taysider. We had a fantastic time, but one naysayer moc

Not really because it simply puts people off wanting to post.

I get banter and micky taking, but making out someone is telling untruths with no reason is wrong.

The fact that some people started before others makes little difference but seems to upset some people, and I for one cannot get my head round that.

I have spent a big part of my life teaching children to hunt, some of the 4-5 years old and when their parents told me school teacher had called those children liars, it made my blood boil thinking that these small minded people thought this way, yet here we are in 2022 and we have hunters thinking the same way, wow.

Getting the thread back on track; I've never really had big bags of rabbits, it's not something I went out for.

I think 36 or 39 was about my best with Delta and Bruce the rescue dog;

Id get more pleasure out of a good winter daytime hare with a deer cross,

Or a big dog fox with a game beddy cross,

But I enjoy every aspect of the game ! ? !

Cheers.

I wouldn’t worry too much. Some will listen and enjoy the stories and others will always mock them. And some will enjoy them, listen and still mock them. It’s just the way of people.

It has always been so, except now there are very few with much of much interest to say. Don’t be put off please.
