Most rabbits killed with one lurcher on nights lamping now let's be truthful lads about this one

Like I said in the 80-90s when there was plenty at it there was no we’re near the lads with lurchers then to now.We used to sell them in the pubs and to a few dog and cat breeders so numbers were the thing for us.But when you think about it we must of killed thousands in that 20yrs so it must of had a massive impact,even though there is mixy and that other virus to knock them down I don’t think it would of been so bad now if we had that many about this day and age.I wouldn’t thank ya for a lurcher now as I couldn’t give it the work it needs unless I was just out for fox and big game as there’s plenty of that about.

I'm the same ,only take what you need and can carry ,I never been into the numbers game as to me its like the shooting brigade killing several hundred pheasants in a day .different if its a paid job but I'm only interested in feeding the ferrets and seeing the dogs work ,you be hard pushed to bag half a dozen local ,plenty other stuff about to keep the dogs happy

You need to think a bit conservationist now days with the rabbits and manage them. Not some thing that I thought much about diving out me mark one escort and light up a field in the early hours as young chap

Them days were different RHD And maxi has hit rabbits very hard over here nowadays it's all Different iam going out now just to get out I think the most we.got last season in one days ferreting was.20 don't lamp much now But do go down now and again when able and I do control rabbits on two farms and a small estate but just go easy on them I don't over do it if u know [BANNED TEXT] I mean keeps us going and keeps farmers happy

i know jim who used to be on here as terryjones....and loftie from moochers have both done the tone with a single dog ....im sure they had 300 odd over 3-4 days on some other islands ...jim had some good photos of the catch..

i never did go bk up mate i was on the trot from the buzys at the time but that fortnight up there il never forget took great bags ferreting daytime shooting geese of the foreshore and great hospitality i dunno if the rabbits are there in same numbers now iv worked on most the islands and never saw it like uist

Yea my cousin had the capri back then. I upgraded if you can call it that to a big old sherpa van. There was one spot you drove about mile down forestry track and crossed a river back up other side and then lamp on top of the mountain. Was cracking spot and I only new of it cause I worked in the woods and spotted the signs about. It lashed down with rain one night and driving out over the river could feel the van getting nudged sideways. Didn't give monkeys back then. Be bricking it now a days lol

18 lol. Bunnies have always been light on the ground round here and were  never my main quarry on a night's lamping. Took 18 and few other bits with a half wheaten bitch.

53 and a goose, I stopped at that because I had another hard night's lamping planned the next night and the same dog had already done 33 and a goose the night before. 

Had a good night with tomo we had 85 I think with 2 dogs a hare and a partridge between us. Wish we has carried on to do the ton that night.

Best bag local 51 with one dog and 71 with 2 dogs, birds Bryn ran himself hard that night.

Same dog used in all the above nights

Was on North Uist last year. Hardly a rabbit to be seen now. Plenty geese though
