.17hmr splitting at the rim

Hello everyone have any of yours had a case split at the rim I’ve had loads split at the neck but tonight one split at the rim and had dusty stuff spray in my face I’ve checked the rest of the cases and can’t see any splits ect

I've not seen that before, whats worrying though you say you had dusty stuff spray in my face, was that out of breech when fired.

Must of been out of the breach rifle is only 3/4 months old max fired another 15 rounds after this and no issue at all

Seen them split at the neck but never there. What make are they?

Remington I’ve been on to the rfd where they came from he’s never seen it either

I use Federal premium or Hornady.

I found these Remington on par with hornady but a few quid cheaper needles to say I am going back to hornady

I’ve had them split on the neck, never on the rim. As I haven’t had any problems with hmr ammo for a while, I thought the problems might have been resolved? I think Remington’s might be old stock if you can get them. I believe that nobody is importing Remington rimfire ammo at the moment, but I could be wrong? I’ve been using hornady’s and cci tnt’s and they’ve been accurate and reliable.

I’ve only ever used Remington over the last 12 years and I’ve never seen that only on the necks a few years back which resulted in squibbing and I had a round stuck in the barrel.

I would take them all back to the firearms shop you bought them and any others with the same batch number.

Only got half a box left out of 12 boxes this is the only one that it’s happened to definitely won’t be buying any more Remington

I can but hope that is simply a batch issue, not seen that before!
