I'll take I can be wrong, still looks a young un to me and not what I'd post as a pic of an example of a good dog.

I'm still not having it though, jackles have snipe, triangular noses, that's got a box head and muzzle.

Jackals and wolves along with hares and foxes, not my sort but respect to them non the less.

A pal i used to hunt a lot with had a merlin eve bred dog,a very very good small deer dog that had a run of 64 out of 64 on cwd.we used to take hundreds of them and my bull/mally cross lurcher that was as wide as she was tall but only 23" stood up better and lasted longer than his dog did on them. It was down to frame and body substance,his dog was fitter than mine as it would do 20 + miles of road work every night plus what it ran from the road as it followed the motor rather than slipped from a window where as mine got walked in the evening and ran at night as i am a working man.Mine could handle the conditions better as we hunted on proper half flooded water meadows where i heard a few owners of other dogs say "that's dead" only to be carrying feck all but their dog off the land before the end of the night. Chasing chinks with a lurcher through dog knee deep freezing cold water with them twisting as well as any Hare can and then if they can get to it before a dyke swim they have to hold it till you get there is hard on the lurchers strength.That was the difference between the two,his had to hold them,mine had the substance to deal with it and the body mass to recover enough to go again and again...This might sound far fetched but some lads on here came to the ground and saw the numbers we had there every day and night, as for teeth his dog wouldn't look at them in any way shape or form,mine just loved going at everything...

Genetic studies have shown that the Sloughi is more closely related to the Galgo than the saluki

The genetics are what they are, the Moroccans ruled are large part of Spain for centuries hence Galgos and Sloughis being closely related.

so sloughi like a saluki  was crossed with them muslims ruled morooco aswell mate   then into spain and crossed made into galgos ?

first of all that aint spain its south america....you might think so what....but they are European brown hares not Iberian...

theres 4 dogs at one point on a hare....

that vid is not going to convince me that our british dogs might struggle in spain...

i would love for our dogs to be superior....of course i would....i just dont believe you can say they are by watching spanish galgos on vid in spain.....you would have to go there and do it...to know for sure

No Saluki and sloughi have separate genetic lines.

The moors invaded Spain and found Galgos at which point there is likely to have been some swapping of dogs but the Galgos were famous well before the moors invaded so most likely they were taken back to North Africa and mixed with the local sighthound, the Sloughi, hence the close genetic ties.

When compared to a non Sighthound breed such as the Affenpinscher, all the Sighthounds and Primitives in this study shared more genetic similarities with each other than they did to that outside breed (page 20 of the lecture).

- Saluki and Afghan Hound

- Borzoi and Chart Polski

- Greyhound and Magyar Agar

- Primitives (FCI Group 5) and Galgo or Sloughi (mediterranean breeds

These four breeds are clearly distinct from one another as shown by their clusters (page 32 Dr. Wimmer). Of these breeds the Sloughis of this study, although distinct, are on the one hand closer to the Azawakh, which comes as no surpise as both originate in Africa, and on the other hand with the Galgo espanol from Morocco's neighboring country of Spain. The Sloughis sampled in this study appear to be a link between African and other Mediterranean breeds."
