comanche 2,799
Last year l couldn't use my bicycle because blackbirds nested in one of the panniers . My mate who had left his Landrover parked on my front lawn while he worked on it couldn't move it because another blackbird decided his engine bay was a great place to raise a brood. This year l have a nest in my shed.Luckily the parents are of the tolerant sort and put up with me creeping in and out for tools and work gear. It probably helps that l try to make up for any disturbance and buy their confidence by scattering a few worms on the lawn every day. Even though do try to time my visits when the parents are away they still happily fly in with food while l'm in the shed A bad hair day. Bosun11 537
Reminds me of my youth seeing that, my grandad had a shed with stable doors where the top was never closed and we had blackbirds nests in there every year... Happy times. Got our local blackbirds on their second clutch in our hedge this year. First one side, now the other. They've lost one fledgling to the magpies this year but i'm glad to say my young lurcher nailed a maggi, whilst they were nailing the chick.

Neal 1,784
I saw my first ever redstart this year. A pair of them were nesting in the barn next to the cottage we were staying in on Dartmoor last week.

Any chance I could borrow some carb cleaner. Slides are gummed up on one of my Suzuki’s?
comanche 2,799
One baby left home two days before the others. I don't think there was room for all five in the nest but the parents fed it on the shed floor . After they dispersed l found a casualty in the garden but the others seemed to survive. But....just when l thought l had my shed back , today l realised the parents have decided to go for another brood! Edited July 5, 2021 by comanche

Teach me to leave a Jimny standing for six months; hence the carb cleaner!
