My Patterdale seems to have a lot of sleep in his eyes lately, he wakes up with a fair amoun in his eyes which i wipe off in the mornings, then by luch time he has more... he has started following us out in to the garage when we smoke so not sure if thats whats causing this or if he has a slight infection?

use anti biotic drops- will work a treat

My Patterdale had the same problem for ages! I used antibiotic drops and within a few days the problem was gone. I do find however, that when she goes to the beach the next day the problem is back and Im forever cleaning her eyes for a few days with cleansing wipes that are designed for childrens eyes - this also seems to help when its not too bad.

Had a setter years back with a similar eye problem that wouldn't clear up. Vet' even checked the tear ducts were clear by dropping green dye into her eyes, the dye came out the nose :o .

If the advise given here doesn't work ask your local chemist, cheaper than the vet' by far..
