Remember them great end of season days at altcar and the banter on the public bank , doubt we will ever see them again

There's been over 300 houses built just up from me on fields that were "just a last run" on the way back from lamping 3 years ago. Cheers, D.

I'm not passed of age yet but I definitely get you... I'm joisting out for a new build on the same land I once shot bunnies with a crappy Trago Mills air rifle.. Kinda sad when you think about it! Reminisce and smile, the only way ???

Just sad full stop. I lost the beddy whippet one day so that night I went to a lamping spot a few miles up the road and flashed the lamp on and off the old silent recall job. Sure enough wasnt long before a set of eyes coming straight at me. Was over the moon. That field has now long gone with whooping great road straight through it

My last house was built, I reckon, within a few yards of where my first ever lurcher caught her first hare. The house I live in now built on land I played on, hunted, nested, and was chased off of quite a few times as a boy in halcyon days. Funny thing is there are a few mature trees, old hawthorn hedges, and burn courses left, all hidden amongst the housing to remind me. Kind of makes it even sadder. And when I tell my kids “when I was your age, this was all just fields” I hear my late dad’s voice in my head, and realise the sadness he had in his heart when he told me the same about his old stomping grounds..., and then I remember, that just like me 40 odd years ago, my kids don’t actually give a flying fcuk ?

In the blink of an eye I’ll be dust, and my kids will be the ones getting all wet eyed with nostalgia.., and so it goes.

? mate it’s grim to think about we had 17 large developments going on all cutting old prime hunting ground up I used to be able to leave my gaff an head in any direction an get a good night on the beam in now it’s a field here an there then on to the next spot round that area I’m pretty lucky now because we’re I’m living now there’s plenty of land local enough that I’m permitted on an other land within half hour drive in any direction to go at but probably won’t be long till building started but gotta adapt an over come in the dog game if you wanna run dogs

That bit about kids not giving a flying f**k got me!

I can relate to that, time marches on!
