Little 'un is now at college doing what they call pre 16 courses - her tutors have all been brilliant. ........... they're actually teaching her to research and think aswell as remember facts. I haven't seen a slant being put on anything from any of them. The main thing is, since our daughter has been there, she's been happy and enthusiastic about her learning There you go mate, it’s about finding the correct environment too. But schools are led by Governors and the SLT......if you don’t think they are doing their job then you go to OFSTED and make a big f***ing noise.....they will definitely take notice of that because a bad OFSTED report puts them in serious financial shit.....that means redundancies, it’s mean extra work for those left, it means special measures and a black mark for future career prospects for the head.......it’s a massive big stick. As a governor, going to OFSTED or the threat of it would be even more of a big deal

You're right though - finding an environment that works for her is going well so far

As Mrs Mansfield has diagnosed max herself..you couldn't make it up she's 1 horrible person.. Once in the meeting and with a calm conversation to rip into her in a civilized way.. Who do I say I'm going to contact above her in the meeting because she's way over stepped the mark..the school governor's ?? If they are denying a kid with a statement and an assessment to a facility they get a lot of funding for then that is serious, again I’d say take that to OFSTED and tell them that’s what you are going to do. If you are all square and there’s no special circumstances (like violent outbursts/physical harm to others) then they won’t have a leg to stand on

CAHMS funding has taken a huge hit the last few years mate..to the point they are striking loads and loads of children off the list.less children with issues the smaller the financial bill.. Even closing purpose built building's and relocating to small rooms within doctor's surgery's. My 2 lads CAHMS doctor is the most relaxed woman I've ever met.she has the lads talking a little within the first meeting years ago..but she left the service because she couldn't do her job she said with the cuts in funding..

Yep, but that’s not school funding mate. Their special needs funding will be coming from a different place and they won’t want to loose that.

Yes that's right enough mate..the school's do get the extra funding for units, teacher training etc.. I was referring to a statement from CAHMS..but as funding has been slashed loads of children won't be able to be assessed by CAHMS.. thus they will have zero chance of using the unit within School..and will fall through the net.

You can pay for a private assessment mate, I don’t know how much they are but probably not cheap. However, they are normally pretty understanding about these things and you will have a bit of time to save up before you get an appointment. What you can ask for is an opinion letter from your point of contact at CHAMS, explain that your lad can’t access the help without it and that may do the trick. Edited to add: That’s what we did while we wait the 2 years for a proper assessment, even the private bloke is booked up for 12 months ! CAHMS already have stated to the school in a letter that max should be on the unit mate. But since the head of year has said there's nothing wrong with him and basically undiagnosed him..hes been denied Access.. It's a total joke up there to be honest.. 2yrs back log and even 12 months for private..its a total shambles.

Ive spent the last month having 2 interviews and filling out a contract of employment and a medical..having not worked for a good few years.. They are keen for me to start the 1st of June..and now all this with the wife..I might have to terminate the employment contract before I even start work.. Welsh_red 4,302
My mrs [BANNED TEXT] has a daughter who has issues . She is seen by CAHMS (think thats what is it) . Theirs always been a worry she might do something horrific to herself. The school know all about everything and the mother has untold grief with the school. Week ago the showed her and the class a video on suicide. Now i know the intent was to talk about it with the kids and its a good idea . But theirs no way this kid should be watching that with what goes on with her. Now since that day she has gone off the rails . Police have been called few times , shes been seen by specialists etc and she is still in no way in a good mental state . Mother has had to stop working last week just to keep a eye on her . Teacher knew all about her issues , still decided without checking with the mother that it was ok to have her in the class watching this video . I dont know how this story will end but i know my mrs is txting her [BANNED TEXT] constantly and phoning her every night and im trying to stay out of it because it upsets me hearing about this poor girl . But the school have done fuckall to help this girl
