Yes ,slowly at first the pockets started to grow & have now reach high levels up from 80% kill on the first release. The virus still does a great job in 90% of the land in New Zealand  . Whil

My hobby turned into a full time job about 25 years ago & to me about the only differences is I now get paid .I work for myself as a contractor ,I cover 100,000 Acers,as long as I'm active  how I

To be truthful the Central Otago hills shouldn't have been farmed in the first place  ,its all rocks with little top soil, great for growing grapes these days .It is for the most part covered in canes

I remember about 30 years ago, walking from Tokaroa to my relatives house about a mile or so out of town one evening and the fields were just like that video, absolutely heaving with rabbits !

I said to my brother in law, "if I had one of my dogs here with me, I'd be over the fence, have half a dozen rabbits, and be away before anyone saw me ! "

He replied " go in the pub and ask if anyone wants rabbits clearing, and the farmers will pay you to kill as many as you want !"

I remember thinking how different it was back home !

Cheers.

that is so true ,no ones interested in chasing them ,ferreting to dogs or net ,they would rather chase bigger game animals so landowners for 99% of the time have to pay .A mate who came out here from wales by the name of billy Barton now makes his living chasing rabbits ,he relayed to me it was like living a dream & he had to poke himself to make sure that it wasn't .

There just reintroduce vhd virus there again it’s far easier than telling lads get your dogs out vhd virus is king at controlling numbers without having to have people all over your land that’s without sounding negative
