The total cost came at an eye-watering £4.65 billion which would be the equivalent of £12 billion in today's money.” "Test and Trace is budgeted to be significantly more expensive than the Mars expedition. The Mars Perseverance rover is expected to cost just under £2 billion, while NHS Test and Trace received a £22 billion budget for its first year." Edit to add, they were successful.
