Looking for ancestry /history of my saluki /greyhound

Help Required as to ancestry /history of my saluki /Greyhound.

I have just lost my dog of a lifetime to cancer, she was 11/12 yrs old.I am truly heartbroken.

I'm not a hunter, but have always loved sight hounds in particular salukis.

My dog Fern was a very distinguishable sighthound ,her colouring alone a mutated dilute. Was quite a show stopper. I'd have people literally stopping cars to ask what she was as she held herself well and looked awesome.

She was Steel and tan with a white butterfly on chest. White tips on feet.

Fur like velvet and shone.

A glamourous looking dog.

She passed through I believe 5 lurcher men before coming to me age around 4 yrs.

I had her 8 yrs.

I have  sketchy details of her young life and know she was initially used as a racing dog and then a lampers dog. Until she hurt her spine and broke a toe.

Fern was born around 2009,lived in North East England (Northumberland).

I believe she had two litters of puppies (do you have one?)

Lived Winlaton, Mickley,Prudhoe , Ryton, Greenside, Horsley.

I believe her father (sire) may of being khan jihad.

I believe her mother (dam) was a steel greyhound and was a Irish coursing champion.

Does anyone know who that might be?

Who bred Fern?

Does her heritage fit time scale wise?

I would dearly love to know as I said, totally in bits at her loss.

I just want to try and recreate her or seek out someone who might be able too from same lineage.

Whilst I'm not a hunter, I turned Fern from huntress to helper in that I used her skills and abilities to bring deer out to me to photograph, as I'm a professional photographer. We were quite a team.

I just loved everything about that girl.

Thanks for any help received.

I owned a kc reg pure out of him and 2 saluki x whippets that he was the sire too and that sound's about right about all 3 😂👍

The blood from him will be well diluted lol that's why it might be half decent. The ones I saw would need land as big as Texas a hare with 2 1/2 legs and about a week to put a strike in but the were d

You’ll get all info you need in here I’m sure, few lads on here will know if the breeding at least, but that Khan dog was out over loads a bitches I’m sure as my cousin had a first cross out him an a grey, was a black pup tho an wrong time frame. If your after another I’m sure there’s a lad up north east off this site that still owns a few pures an let’s them stand at stud so he prob your best bet of sourcing a pup as I don’t think he breeds himself but stays in touch with all who use his dogs 👍

Think the lad who owned Khan an was in here at one point had access to a few greyhound bitches an bred a few first crosses off him, reared them in a big compound where they had run of place with the dam 👍

I'd say a Saluki lurcher, not a first cross. You'll get something similar just watching the dogs for sale, might not be blue mind. She landed on her feet after such a shitty start

Anyone know the the chap I THINK CALLED Peter Christopher who bred deerhound lurchers in Little Clacton Essex? Need some lineage on the sire of my pup. Major born 2009 in Little Clacton. His sire Conan 3/4 deer 1/4 grey & his  dam Tyler deer/grey. Either or both of these MIGHT be "of the line of Dave Platts" but Platts tells me that it is NOT HIS Conan BUT might be "of the line of". My pup born in Colchester March 2021. Owner of Major cant find the paper with the name of who he bought Major from due to a recent house move but also thinks the chap may be RIP. Any info helpful. TIA.

Anyone know the name of the chap who bred deerhound lurchers in Swinesdyke Lincolnshire? And it is NOT Len ginger Francis RIP as the man I bought my pup from spoke to the chap in Swinesdyke in 2019/2020 AFTER Len was RIP. Need some lineage on the dam Roma of my pup. Roma from a litter born 4 August 2012 in Swinesdyke near Nothorpe Lincolnshire. Her sire Bernard grey/deer x grey/bearded collie & her dam Tig , Tigs or Tiggy grey/deer x grey/whippet. My pup born in Colchester March 2021. Breeder cant find the paper with the name of Roma's breeder & his phone number on it due to chaotic domestic circumstances. TIA.

I am buying a nice pup from a lad in Huthwaite but he is a bit short on a "pedigree" for the pups dam & sire. Here is what I have : pups are out of Beast (dam) wheat rough coat at Huthwaite & Snowy (sire) smooth coat / black at Skegness - both known as Saluki/greyhound, but as good working dogs, clearly some other old blood in the pups. Beast's dam was Hollie (Holly?). Snowy's dam Mollie (Molly) & sire (Drago). Hollie/Holly is "of the line of Merlin & Eve. I can see some collie features in a couple of the pups (vocal & B&W). The other pups including the one that will be mine are brindle & look like they wil be smooth coated..... but time will tell.  Having found more detail online (sme of it ficticious) & by speaking to Dave PLatts & Geoff Burrell,  I can add predecessors to Merlin & Eve but NOT fill in the BIG gap between them & Hollie/Holly & her daughter Beast. Can anyone help please? My last dog was Luke sire/grandsire Paddy (bred by George Gaskin's cousin in Dublin) dam Dora. Luke RIP end 2018 age 15 & a perfect gentleman who laid his catch at my feet &  knew how to drown a failed kill in the brook without me telling him to .... mind you he used to pinch my bread & butter off the plate & loved a bit of banana cake hot from the oven ........

      Hello to all.
I would like some help with our lurchers coat. Luna is 3 this year, her Mum was a Border Collie x Whippet (merle) her Dad a Whippet x Greyhound (Non-Merle). I think she has the harlequin merle modifier gene, I don't think she is double merle, her Dad was not cryptic as far as we can tell. She has no helth issues eyesight excellent and her hearing is as selective as any lurcher.
She is a stunning wee dog, very unique markings, great temperament.
      Any help appreciated.
