Lets be honest how many bull crosses could do 3 or 4 in a night 3/4 times a week?I spent many years lamping regularly with different lads with bull crosses containing all the famous lines you hear about on here and I never saw many despite all the bollocks Id been told.Im talking single handed walked up not chasing them across a field in a motor and chucking multiple dogs out

no they probably couldn't mate because they'd have a head like a balloon but even 2/3 foxes twice a week still takes some sticking power

No matter the distance a fit track greyhound will beat a whippet every time ... here is the science.

Acceleration Speed
At maximum acceleration, a greyhound reaches a full speed of 70 kmh within 30 metres or six strides from the boxes, traveling at almost 20 metres per second for the first 250 metres of a race.

The only other animal that can accelerate faster over a short distance is a cheetah that can reach speeds of 109 kmh over 3-4 strides from a standing start.

The greyhound can maintain an average speed of 16.45 metres per second over a 500 metre race, decreasing to around 14.6 metres per second as it crosses the finish line.

Obviously they've never seen a beddyXwhippet ?

Like TOMO said a grey or big lurcher isn't gonna be in the same league as a whippet, when ferreting or in small field busts. That info is based on straight lines/track, not in real world (maybe the cheeta) scenarios but a cheeta ain't running dry wall lined fields after a couple of rabbits ?

A coursing dog is faster than a cheetah and makes a noise like a hyena if you accidentally tread on its foot

Just saying ?

You've just got to look at the distance lost on a turn to see the difference between the two

Tell you what mate I will put my black bitch I’ve got here up against any small lurcher or whippet at bolting rabbits. Any terrain any price per rabbit caught.

Fair enough, I'd like to see that mate ;)

I still think whippet blood is better suited for small fields and ferreting whereas bigger dogs for open land and longer courses. All opinion and conjecture.

So...... I have a question and I’m looking for honest answers. We hear it a lot on here and I’m sure there are lads at it. But how many folk on here either have or do, catch 3-4 foxes a night, 3-4 nights a week through the season. With same dog /s. That’s 40-50 foxes a month, so September - feb would be 240-300 foxes a season with same dog / s.

Can anyone honestly say they have owned it known a dog that’s caught 200-300 Charlie a season and how many seasons did it do? Because a dog with a four year working life like that would be doing 1000 foxes.

Just asking ........
