LOL, you may have something of a point there. They do breed deerhounds a bit big and clumsy these days. They're a nice dog to own though and the first pure in Stonewalls post looks a better stamp to me. His half cross too.

I don’t see why people breed them down , surely that height is the whole point in owning a deerhound in the 1st place ?

Some do some don’t depends on how they are bred,and as for size why not bring them down abit as when I brought the size down on mine it was a bit more better on the turning and speed.But still punched above its size.

Read it properly I brought the size down (23 inch ) bitch as I put a whippet over the 1stx and she was taking the same stuff as a 1stx still.I keep forgetting you just like to take the piss out of what others right.Sorry ya highness

I've seen a lot of deerhound crosses and a few pures, and they seem to be only any good when you get down to 1/4 deerhound. They have good mouths on them and they look good, but they have bad feet, turn like buses and lack speed till you get to 1/4 breds.

Is this another kind of nostalgic thing ? Where deer hound xs are as good as anything that’s got a chunk of grey and reared right? But no better ? Don’t see anyone running them much now and the ‘great’ ones are all long dead and just memories.

That's right even them that devoted the lives 2 these dogs admit the smaller they got and more greyhound or other blood they added the better they was

Deer/grey bitch pups, two weeks old;

Very even, so I'll wait a few weeks before choosing one.

This one has a slightly bigger head, but they'll change over the weeks.
