My local had this like new hatistani 900x edger brothers job in going cheap because someone couldn't get on with it. 

I took the challenge on!

Maybe this may help someone I dont know but I learnt a few things.

First of all the silencer baffles  were damaged near the end of the silencer! Everything lined up so I was confused.

To remove the silencer you have to gently prize the plastic end cap from the plastic body. Then you can draw the baffles out.

It shot slightly better but still wildly.  I soon realized why the baffles were damaged though. The barrel muzzle and crown were awful! A burr was hanging down and it looked very rough in the bore. Now a slim socket is needed to undo a nut that secures the silencer body to the barrel. This I dont have so set to making a lapping rig for the muzzle from 22 jags and 17 brushes and after some perseverance got the muzzle cleaned up enough  that now I can ring my steel target with regularity to 40yds, off hand and with a variety of pellets.

I stripped the gun before I found the barrel issue and added some preload and greased the spring lightly to lose some twang. Which it has.

I also removed the trigger adjusting screw which doesn't by the way on this model and added a longer m3 screw to lose some of the excessive sear engagement.

So there you go even a lemon can be made useful.....eventually!

Just got to get a rabbit with it now to make it complete.

Hmm...slight change of tack.

I'm going to have to scope this rifle. It has been built bad in the factory. The silencer and built in front sight is canted meaning the rear sight is far from center!

I temporarily fitted a cheap rubbish scope I have and it made it more serviceable  so I think a half decent scope is the way forward plus it will allow me to remove the factory mod and source an adapter and mod and shorten the barrel to lose that bad crown and recrown the muzzle.

Any pointers to adapters anyone?

Well it has given you something to do Bernard and by the sounds of it, you are getting there.  Its funny (or not) how the Hatsan guns can be spot on or total rubbish and we know which one you got.  They produce thousands of their Escort semi auto shotguns and very few give issues but I was told they dont make all the air rifles but who knows.

You mentioned excessive sear engagement SD. I think that’s the worst trait of my old .25 striker. I’ve never had this rifle apart, it shoots at around 10.5 to 11ish ft lb so I’ve left it alone. The lock time is long and lazy and the trigger has lots of creep. Maybe it would benefit from a bit of a refurb. I have a selection of mainsprings and delrin guides etc. The standard spring feels really weak when cocking the rifle, but I think it’s to keep the power down as the cylinder is quite long. Does the trigger on the 900x look like it might be the same as the one on the striker SD?

Yes mate, same trigger unit but the striker does have some range of adjustment  if my memory is correct.  It however still needs a longer screw but do first make sure its screwed in to lose the engagement amount. It's just behind the blade but deep and a spring wire usually sits on it to stop it backing out.

Watch what you do with the 25 striker. They soon go over!

Yerr, thanks for that SD, I didn’t know the trigger was adjustable. I’ll have a look. That’s the weakest link in this rifle for the price bracket. I suspected that they’d go over easily as the mainspring seems ridiculously weak and yet it’s still spitting marksman .25’s at over 500fps.

The factory mod is off and sure enough the barrel has been crimped by the parting off tool at the muzzle.

The barrel diameter is 16.2(ish)mm. The reduced shank is 13mm.

The factory thread is m12x1.25.

I've ordered a brass adapter listed as 13mm. If that works out I will cut the muzzle back several mm and crown it by hand, test it and if improved source a mod and scope.

Well the sound mod adaptor came yesterday.  The idiots have put the two grub screws opposite each other meaning that the advertised 13mm adapter that ain't and is in fact 13.27mm wobbles.

So now I have  bought some 6ba grub screws so I can engineer the near useless junk!

Barrel muzzle shortened and crowned but still yet to test. 

 

I only want this rifle for garden duty as the little chinese thing is a bit weak
