Also got a Mitchell Half-Bail, the type Richard Walker used to catch the record carp, and a 1955/6 model with full bail. Also a 300 and ABU 506 bought with my paper round and Saturday job money.

This one is unique. It was made in 1912 probably as a prototype by a reel maker who left Hardys and struck up shop on his own.

Out of likes mate ..but cracking stuff...

I found an old split cane rod today, I'll take some pics tomorrow and put them up..

I like the idea of using the old gear, but I'll be honest it feels so clunky now...I do love seeing pics of the rods/reels still in action though

The brake lever above the spool to control drag

Ah right, see it now...I'm on phone so zoomed in...

Not seen .that before... shape wise the reel looks like an old Daiwai that used to have the flick bale arm...

Never seen that reel before mate (mind you I'm no expert lol).. unusual as it has the drag setting on the back, Mitchell usually have front drag....and obviously the lever is something very different...Nice mate....

I still use my Mitchell 410 that I bought over 40yrs ago and have I think the 880 match reel here somewhere

bullit proof reels.

I have my sigma rod here and a boron match

Mitchell were quality...they make some decent enough stuff again now, but Shimano, Daiwai etc took over...

User to use a small quiver tip rod called a sigma wand on our canal, great thing for skimmers..
