My dad, when he was at Sullom Voe, and a mate on the North Sea rigs swore by Tiger Balm, so I said I'd bring a big box for them.

I mentioned it to a Thai pal and he said no,no, I'll send my wife for it.

it was about 100th the price I would have paid.

Another time my missus wanted two suitcases of designer shirts for my sister to sell at the factory where she worked.

Again, my pal said tell my wife what you want and she'll get them. Now this was back when a t shirt was around 50p and a polo shirt around £1 , she got them for half the price, and probably got a "commission" for herself !

Last time I was there was on a three day layover from Australia and went down to Pattaya to look up some old pals, it had got so expensive, (relatively) and commercialised I've never bothered going back .

I was in the Philippines once and wanted to go into a museum, big sign "Foreigners 100 peso entry, Filipinos 10 peso", there was a guy on the entrance collecting cash. I asked him was he a practicing Catholic (of course he was, it's the PI) he said yes, I told him me too (I lied) and doesn't jesus say we are all brothers, I gave him religion for about ten minutes, owners of the museum are racist, he is my brother etc... etc.....etc....he gave me a hug and let me in for nowt, result

Just been talking to my mate in Pampanga about sending me some spurs, he was quoted £15-£30 !

Hes going to send his Philippino brother in law to buy them , I'm expecting them to be a bit cheaper !

I used to get them from the manufacturer, only ever went to Pampanga to see the crucifixions

Yes same with everything mate went to temples and things 200baht for foreigner 40baht or free for thai taxi once price for us one for them but tuk tuk guy I use 1st day when I spoke to him said it usually would be this price or this price for thai but I do cheaper than thai price because of covid many still try to be greedy but not good times every other driver wanted like 1200baht for my first trip he said thai would pay 800baht he did for 600baht but paid 800baht for all day and used him everytime ive been somewhere most days even when fishing hes took me but just pay him 800baht all day he says very good wage as most workers earn about 300baht a day about £6.70 to us
