Hunting no mate, I really fuucked up on that front and chose the wrong place ? I have mates in Aragon and Basque country but running dog wise, I really dropped the ball on that one. Got one of the best bred dogs in the country (Blighty) and then failed the cnut. Still he gets out to the mountains and beaches etc and it's in him like you wouldn't believe. Any failure is completely my fault.

It's Spanish for stripes.  Bred in the purple so fingers crossed, 7 months.

A bar in Albacete, the walls are full  of galago and ferreting pictures

It's not dog shelters that hang them, it's owners. The Spanish are cruel fuckers, ; every season they get rid of the culls, but some owners just hang them, drown them or simply throw them out on the s

If you want to run dogs then Castilla de mancha is the area. But it's hot, dry and in winter it'll hit -3 and feel shit. It's the local climate but it doesn't feel like Blighty -3 with the rain and humidity. The south is pretty much sun all year and it's also where the wankers congregate. So if thy mrs wants to watch people snorting a line on the bar... that's the place ? The south is great just stay away from the main cities and towns and don't get pulled into the expat shoite. Learn the language, make local friends and you'll be at home.

Cheers Lamper,  yes they have a bit in the  tank, smaller and more agile than a greyhound.  Have the effortless style of the  stayer but a fair pace. I've run against a pure saluki and the Galgo eased away noticeabley although the  saluki wasn't in the shape it should have been,  ain't gonna catch a grey over a 1/4 mile  but will  stay on and on.

Good middle ground type, good feet and light enough to take a bit of work with decent speed, but enough in the tank to  ensure the runs not over till its over.

Sounds like a solid type for lamping so!

Do they have the same prey drive that a grey has? Would they barrel into teeth like a grey?

Sandy an me maybe don't agree on a lot but we do on some things. Make no mistake, Galgos are hunting bred, tested and culled excessively (which is a massive issue here, Google it). They are fit for purpose ;)

If they can run that ground in Spain they got to be tuff as old boots and wouldnt see why they wouldn't do a fox as let's face it a good whippet can and will do fox but maybe not a all out fox dog but a juckel got it in them or ain't never mind the x it is ,and this type don't seem to have a problem running in the heat ,my scruffy lot be on there bellys tounge a yard long after a run on in the heat these run in .

My old bitch liked to tackle a fox if she got the chance when we were knocking about but they aren’t something that I bother with in truth so don’t slip when out lamping, the 3 year old joined her and seems keen but never been on her own so I’d guess she’s willing but can’t swear to it. The pup has never had opportunity. I’d say if foxes were my thing I wouldn’t get a Galgo as there are better bred dogs for the job.  Galgos are more edible specialist that have a good mix of speed and stamina, good feet and heat resistance and breed true to type so have very little litter wastage.
