SWEET CHESTNUTS

Every day it's a race against the Squirrels but we manage a few and they are getting bigger , there is a lot Squirrels  feeding under this tree on most mornings and it's not unusual to see more than a dozen at first light .

Seen some nice sized ones under a tree other day Lubyanka left them there couldn’t be bothered to gather some just for myself .

Seen a load on the floor this morning it used to be a seasonal ritual gathering them as a nipper with my father to get them home and lightly boil them then peel them and sprinkle salt on them.

Same for us but times are changing, every lad in our village had at some point fallen out of a chestnut tree, part of growing up ,

It’s making me feel old mate, I am only 55 I feel sorry for my dad I must have drove him bloody mad,
