Really? It's impossible that demographics differ naturally and it has nothing to do with human prejudice? That's the problem I have, these days absolutely any inequity is 'systemic racism' and the narrative now is that if you're not 'anti-racist' then you are racist. It's not even fringe. Less than 15% of the US male population are over 6ft tall and yet well over 50% of Fortune500 CEOs are over 6ft tall. We hear f**k all about that 'obvious' social injustice clearly caused by systemic prejudice and yet the gender pay gap is rammed down our throats at every opportunity! Yes I think we should look to see why more white people aren't going into medicine, after all if we give equal opportunity we allow access to all and so the best will be available, I don't have a problem with that, seems pretty sensible to me. The same in all aspects of life, if institutionalised barriers are in place that make it harder for a particular group to gain access to opportunity then that needs addressing. Are we talking as individuals or a group ?.....Roughly speaking white men came up with around 97% of scientific ideas,invented all the disciplines,botany,geology,physics etc...produced around 98% of greatest explorers and something like 47 of the 50 greatest inventions in history.....in terms of ancesty white mens ancestors built empires while black mens ancestors were still hunter gatherers.....so i mean no,apart from building civilisations to accommodate black people i guess we havent really done much that compares to a black doctor doing paid employment. But you're fighting a perceived inequality with prejudice. I just can't get my head around how that's justified? Looking for barriers to entry which impact only certain demographics is treating inequality, I'm on board with that. But introducing quotas etc is literally introducing prejudice to get the result that you think is right. It assumes that there isn't a natural mechanism for the inequity, it assumes that there is a inequality.
