Well, just for a bit of perspective, I have a long wheelbase shogun Pajero thing of the type everyone who farms owns over here, it’s 16 years old and I think a rat has died somewhere in bodywork because there’s a weird smell ! Lol ? True Story !

I did own a range rover,a classic model 1980s, with a v8 tuned tvr lump, straight threw pipes,in tranquil  country green, ffs, sounded like a nascar coming up the lane.that upset the local great,n good of the area.

I had an early 80's Range Rover, built by Wood & Picket, every thing about it was non-standard, a bugger to get spares for.

3.5 litre petrol, did about 9 mpg , good job I had it in Saudi where I could fill the tank for about a fiver !

Cheers.

The 80's Range Rovers were a far superior motor in my opinion....era for era kind of thing.

And ain’t they making some money now ..two door 70’s &80’s models are gold dust ..

this ones on the market for £115,000 ..and there’s some making a lot more ..makes me laugh they actually use the fact it has no electronics as a selling point ...how times change .

Toyota best by far the land cruiser all the way  reliable and best off road by a country mile.

Land rover are now show pony's.

The old defenders were good off road but unreliable same as the discos

I remember a mate got one of those for £150 we abused it off road and snapped an axle.

It had brown tartan interior

If we knew then what we knew now

Hindsight .......we’d all be sitting on a yard full of everyday classics ...escorts , cortina’s , all the rs models etc etc ...who would have thought a £1500 escort Mexico would be making £50,000 plus today ..

Didnt know that, i keep half an eye on the retro Fords but couldnt afford a Range Rover back in the 80's so have never paid much attention to them but seems like they're making good money now.
