A few hour with a kit

Recommended Posts

Great photos mate, Ferreting since covid is making a comeback of sorts not sure why, I have a few theories and the price of ferrets this year have skyrocketed as an example I recently purchased 2 10 month old  bucks for $320 aud, off a ferreting contractor who is getting out of the game due to cancer, one for me and one for a mate and thats cheap for a ferret right now. I usually have an early crop and a late crop of kits mainly so I have workers throughout the whole time I breed 1/2 early and 1/2 late I will probably keep 1/2 doz this year and pick 3 of those later on to keep as workers. below is the buck I kept and the first lot of Jills he is bred to. Good luck with the young un looks like it will be ok

I always thought that you wouldn’t work kits until they are a year and a bit, ie. next season for this summers kits?

Not sure what other people do, most of the people I know myself included start them around 7 months if they are immature minded we hold them back a bit doesn't seem to be any noticeable ill effects, each to their own works for me.

Jesus 320 , it’s dogs over here that’s gone through the roof but I’m lucky I had the kit and dog gifted for free and sent back a pup I got given out of the whippet greyhound Bitch I was running and turned down a pup last week, I’ve just no need for another dog at the minute now I’ve got this fawn bitch. Don’t get me wrong if I’m after a dog and I like one I’ll pay what ever the man is asking so I could get the same way with ferrets ? stay safe mate cheers.

i picked up a hob kit at the thl fishing match in august of newkid.....not sure how old 10..12 week.....its been coming out with me for at least 3 week if not 4 ...hes bolting them well and killing the odd one...he cant be much more than 5 month old....

personally i like to get them out and see what there about....i have another hob from last year....hes stunning looking polcat a great pet...but an absolute wanker as a worker....its like he couldnt give a f**k....so there all different ...

get them out at the sharp end.....and i know there not strictly wild animals ...but a wild polcat mother would have fecked her brood off by now to fend for itself
