It takes years and years of dedication and endless hours of work and study to get to the level of these guys ... they can be working 50+ hours a week with operations lasting over 12 hours. The real superstars are the surgeons you have mentioned Ken. Rock stars, sports stars, movie stars sell their product to millions of people across the world, those huge wages are inevitable in a free market. You only have to flick through Netflix to see most of it is utter wank or listen to the endless chatter about what team will do what.
