I worked in a house some years back and the bloke there was an aircraft engineer of some sort, always remember him saying to me I never get to see a plane that has not got faults and if people saw what I see they would never fly ? think time is money and they only bring them in to be fixed when it’s really necessary ?

The lad i was on about is a Ryanair technician i was just on about him to someone in a pm funny enough, his father was a close friend of mine who died and i kind of took him under my wing a bit and wanted to get him into a decent career and he,s done really well for himself got all the qualifications he needed and like i say is now venturing into the AAIB side of things but everything he's ever told me suggests the opposite mate....literally sheets upon sheets of checklists and paperwork involved, apparently in many accidents its the paper trails rather than the actual engineering that leads to accidents...mistakes with parts service hours and suchlike, and thats just a 2 bob airline like Ryanair !.....again,i find it a really interesting industry.....its just a shame im thick as shit ?

Hoping to be moving soon and have already got myself a little doer upper boat that I will be renovating through the winter ready to sell in spring /summer, as long as all goes well should make decent

Maybe it’s me being an old fogey but the the last 20 odd years everything got too “professional”.......it was all bits of paper and method statements and young clever c**ts with no idea of a mans word

I've never really known what 'the dream' is, still don't. But if I was to start over, and with hindsight, I think ten years in the forces and then train as a PH in Africa would probably suit me.

I think the bloke Greyman was talking to may have exaggerated a bit !

I spent 26 years in the aircraft/airline industry as an engineer and retired as a Maintenance Supervisor of one of the biggest airlines in the world.

There are VERY stringent rules and regulations , overseen and monitored by bodies such as the CAA and the FAA. Everything is governed by ISO rules. Everyone from Pilots to mechanics are well qualified and undergo recurrent training to keep up their licenses.

Every part of a commercial aircraft down to the last rivet is checked during periodic maintenance. Any part that is removed or replaced is numbered and documented.

Every system has a back up system in case of failure.

Whenever there's a major accident it gets huge attention because of the loss of life, but flying is still one of the safest ways to travel.

Cheers.

,I am going back a few years mate hopefully things have changed considerably as it was quite scary what he was telling me, FairPlay to you and the lad mate that’s a nice story, I have a few lads that look to me as a father figure through similar circumstances, it’s a nice feeling when it comes good like that, top man ?

My sons a design engineer for the aircraft industry he does a lot of testing as well, he was responsible for the microwave the beverage dispenser you don’t call it a coffee maker apparently and involved in the cockpit seats on the Dreamliner but he trained for ten years I’m glad he stuck it out.

As for myself I love the Railway been on a long while now admittedly the shifts are anti social but you learn to work your social life around it @Greb147 are you working for a contractor or NWR look into getting a Mobile Operations Managers Job (Mom) best job on the Railway and I’ve had a few road railers ect but I started on the shovel on the P-way so you can progress.

But if I left this tomorrow and I’m not joking I would train to be a Chimney Sweep the amount of work those guys get is unreal, around my area my 3 weeks waiting time to get booked in and there doing at least 6 plus sweeps a day a straight forward sweep with no extras and what I mean by that no new rope or fire bricks replacing they charge between £60/70 do the maths it’s a good living.

Im certainly no father figure mate, just a promise to a great friend thats all .....and being as he reminds me so much of his father i love the lads company simple as that.

I think as Charts points out its an industry governed by strict guidelines now.....the lad often says i cant have a shit without someone looking over my shoulder ?

Just daydreaming really but I always thought that if I had to have a “proper” job I’d quiet fancy being a mid wife.....I reckon I’d be tidy at that job.

Either that or open a real classy swingers club where perverts with more money than sense can shovel me a grand each to come and f**k the granny out of each other while I sit in the corner eating a decent meal and making sure everyone is behaving themselves so to speak. Lol

If that’s not a Freudian insight into someone’s mentality then I don’t know what is ! Lol lol

I’m currently sat in a van writing a Request for Change form our wondering how the f**k I’m going to  find Two days on my critical path flow chart to do it . It’s pissing down and the plant is absolutely filthy wondering how I’ll get this all cleaned for Friday .

at times I wish I was up a hill in Brecon with a Bergan on dossing around without a care in the world Looking at a map and know that all I need to so for the next two hours is put one foot in front of another .
but I know that if I was there , I’d be walking along thinking , I wish I was In a nice warm van f***ing about in a laptop writing bollocks While making sure clowns in 360s end up looking like robot wars .

all relative really

Think pornstars are sick of / bored with shagging because they have to do it as a job ?

Oh f**k that, I couldn’t be involved with all that shit, but consenting adults doing whatever rocks their boat as a leisure activity and willing to pay top dollar to be in a classy gaff, yeah I could get with that.

I should imagine so and it's like the railway, you do anything negligent and shit hits the fan you will be doing some porridge.

Speaking of aviation, air traffic control officers are meant to be on a good screw.
