First day of cow elk 

hit the field 1/2 before legal hunting. 
not seen dick all. Loads of beaten down elk trails thru the bush. Found 2 watering holes.

every couple of hundred yards the bull or bulls have destroyed the trees marking their territory.

found a spiker shed.

sunny here -2c 50 kms wind so it’s -12c with the wind chill.

not seen a damn animal

just having a bite to eat

Well that was an interesting afternoon 

I walked up the north end of the field as I have seen elk in the neighbouring section.

there was 12 cows and a few calves, so I started to cow call. Got the attention of a calf which started heading my way. Mum obviously started to follow. I kept calling and they kept coming. Next thing BOOM from a rifle

the cow dropped and I jumped behind a tree.

some other Hunter was in the other field!!!

i helped the hunter out. He rear ended the cow ?

got hold of the landowner and I have permission after the next guy.

every farmer has a long list of hunters after elk.

one farmer got the word out he wants the herd on his land totally eliminated

I can understand why some of the herds on tv look huge an must damage the grazing through their hooves and there own grazing plus the predator attraction ?
