Breeding to keep a line of a dog  etc

And   breeding litters to make a business or just coz some people are to lazy to get off the ar%e and het a job   I know where I'd be going for a pup

If someone breeds a few litters a year of pet dogs like frenchies or something, and this allows them to not work, and spend all their time with their family & dogs, does this make them lazy?

I guess you pay what YOU think a pup is worth. My last one was exactly what I was looking for, a well bred first cross Deer Grey. The guy wanted £250, a pittance, I thought, for the right dog. I

when   I was a kid there were lots of  mongrels and they would all work pretty much, and were free mostly, sweep was 10 bob and caught hundreds of rabbits far more than the runners.

Anyone got a spaniel to put over my. Bedlington bitch we could knock out some ( Bed springs ) at a grand each ? ?

Totally agree with you, big difference between breeders & puppy farmers, the media would have you believe that every frenchie, cockapoo, pug etc is bred on a horrible puppy farm but that’s only because there’s a huge market the government isn’t making any money off, bottom line they’re not concerned about animal welfare they only want their taxes.

KC reg doesn’t ensure quality either far from it, if you look on sites like pets 4 homes there’s litters of pet dogs on there that look immaculate, better cared for than most lurcher litters I’ve seen on here so it’s not as black and white as people make out

Yep that’s right, if people look after their dogs & do a few litters so they don’t have to drag themselves to a shit job every day then fair play to them.

Theres a lot more to life than work, society has been brainwashed in to thinking unless you have a tax paying job you’re a waste of space but that’s down to politicians, they want us all out working our fingers to the bone, paying huge amounts of tax so they can sit on their arse in their 2nd home & claim their full life on expenses. Then with any luck you'll die before pension age and they get to keep all your NI contributions as well.

Euthanasia would probably put me off breeding a litter but if you bred the type you might want , it might not be suitable for a pet home or destined to be lead bound and troublesome for a pet home. I guess the answer might be to plan any mating with a view to compromise slightly on your own wants to make a litter viable to all your hunting pals, something of an all-rounder could be some fun for any hunter I guess, possibly becomes harder with specialist dogs although then presumably your mates might share your sport or purpose.....

If they don't have the kennel space or don't want a dog you can't force one on them. I suppose you could hold off on breeding until they are on the look out for a dog but some people don't have the luxury of doing so.

I certainly won't begrudge anyone selling spare pups for a reasonable price to people who will look after your pups.

I don't agree with breeding dogs for money but caring for and raising a litter of pups is hard work anyway if done properly,so is a job. There are plenty who think like you about society and I'm one of them,I try to stay as far away from the system as possible, but that is a full time job in itself, lol.You can work your ass off all your life and if your lucky you spend a couple of years doing what you want, which isn't much because your too old and tired, fck that.

I’m the same, I try to spend as little time working as i possibly can, f**k working your life away to make someone else money & pay a high percentage of the rest to the government.

My brothers and their mates got a little clic...fluffy/merle frenchies, bully's, British bulldogs, shar peis, akitas, Breeding and delivering dogs up and down the UK.. wouldn't like to think how much they spent just to set it up... Not my thing at all, but when you look at the money they make, no wonder some people do it as a full time job so to speak.... They sell dog food, bedding, disinfectant, wormers you name it, pays for all the latest toys and gadgets ?seems like most working dog lads, have jumped on the band wagon.. Their own branding and kennel names lol... Each to their own, I'd sooner graft for my money and happy to pay within reason for a dog if its what I want or return the favour with some work/materials etc....

Yeah I work to live instead of living to work, there are plenty of ways to get by.If you don't get caught up in greed and living to impress others you can have a free life with time to spend hunting, which is all that matters lol.
