working Deerhounds for many years, ive seen and worked a lot of them 

the variety is huge, and down to the breeding lines,

typically  bitches are more versatile due to size and do a bit of everything, 

in saying that not too much got away from this large male,

the introduction of some greyhound Blood and sticking strictly to working lines is the only way to get the old deerhound back,

You need new blood to bring the size down whilst ensuring good feet and stamina that are bred to be capable of catching hares on rough ground perhaps something like this might be your answer.

There are a couple of rough coated studs in Spain that performed themselves and have produced performers in their litters.

I honestly believe they would improve working deerhounds no end and would be perfect for such a breeding programme .

We got a tip must have been at least 10/15 year ago about a dog called minneola Farlow. That f****r westmead hawk piped it on the finish 2 years on the trot. Me and about 30 of my mate had it backed from the start at 33's. Hats off to the hawk. Some animal
