+1 for neats foot oil. Warm up the leather and work it in bending and working the leather as much as possible with your hands, keep slapping on the oil until it doesn't disappear then set the boots somewhere warm overnight for the remainder of the oil to soak in.

Goose fat works too....but that definitely stinks!

thanks for that, will have to get some of the oil

I’ve allways broken in a pair new boots in water , I put them on with two pair socks and go stand in a stream for couple minits so they get soaked , ( so water goes fully over the boot ) then I walk round in them for an hour or so to stretch them to shape of my feet then when home let them dry in Cubard then soon dry I treat them with snow seal

yes i know about that method,  we would fill our ammo parade boots with water and plod round in them

until  they dried out then the bulling started... i'am too old to walkabout with wet boots on now :unsure:
